Yeah, Jesus was really pro gun, I'm sure of it!!

That's how little you know Jesus. For instance back Christians would carry swords club's what ever weapons they could get to defend themselves with.

That even to day, As a Christian I have my God given right to defend myself by whatever means possible that's including guns.
Have you any idea at all what it means to love your enemies.
This means you correct your enemies in the error of their way.
This means if your enemy comes to do you harm you pick up a big Club and hit them in the head letting them know, that your no push over nor their walk on.

By this shows love to your enemy.
Letting them know, Treat me with Respect and you will get Respect back.

However you treat me, I will treat you back.

So do you completely ignore the Social Justice message of Jesus, and would rather the poor suffer and die in poverty with no health care, that's what the message of the right wing is today, the most un Christian values party in history.. Republicans today, especially the Tea party, are no more Christian that the Stalinists in the USSR, I suggest you focus your thoughts on how Jesus treated the poor, disabled and sick and contrast that with the Republican party, which cares way more about unborn infants than living people.

Jesus believed in sharing wealth with the poor, as opposed to letting politicians take it- the exact opposite. That's why they ultimately tried to kill him I think you will find... and largely why socialist states like USSR, North Korea, Communist China are all radically atheist

So people, who through no fault of their own, become unemployed are worse than unbelievers? That's the message you take from that?

No, because I read intelligently.

It says, "Anyone who does not provide for their relatives, and especially for their own household, has denied the faith and is worse than an unbeliever."

Obviously it is to the best of their ability. A person who is laid off is different than, say, an indolent person or someone who skips paying alimony or custody. Just as common sense people would treat the two groups differently...

Even a cursory read of the rest of the book or, say, Proverbs, would show you the parsing between lazy and hardworking people.

AND the Old and New Testament judges were to judge not only per God's Law but righteously, equitably. The very fact that American justice is depicted as blind has to do with not showing justice inequity toward the rich (or the poor)!

No, he didn't. Just because you want something to be true doesn't make it so. Facts are tricky little devils.

I believe you must think everything must be word for word. Sometimes more is said by saying nothing.

I believe I only want the Truth that is Jesus.

I believe tricky little devils think they have facts when they don't.

I believe God will judge us each individually on how we care for the poor. He will look deep into our souls, read our hearts, and look at how much of our personal time, talents, energy, goods, and money we voluntarily give to those in need, without coersion, and without thought of glory or reward. What role we thought the government should or should not take will be irrelevent.

Where is the freedom for people who cannot afford healthcare? They have the freedom to die because they cannot afford treatment and medication? So the freedom you want the poor to have is the choice between no healthcare and no healthcare? I'm sure Jesus would be down with that.

I believe you must have been born under a rock because every medical institution has to provide health care whether the person can afford it or not. What they are not obliged to do is go the extra mile like provide a kidney transplant. My brother-in-law won't get one but not because he is poor but because the institution decided he was too old an sick compared to others who needed a kidney.

Then why bother discussing anything? This word doesn't mean that...that word doesn't mean this...what's the point of even talking about your concepts if words mean nothing?

And yet the only time one of his apostles actually uses a sword in his presence, Jesus rebukes the apostle in question and heals his victim.

Sorry, you can keep your welfare state.

Half the households in America have an income of 30k or less. 70% of American's can't afford an unexpected bill of $700 without going bankrupt. The corrupt crony "capitalism" we have in America is going to implode if things don't change. The top 1% percent will be fine of course, they'll just leave the country. Since the 80's, wages for workers have been stagnant with the profits going into the pockets of CEO's and little to none of it shared with their workers. Record numbers of people are living with their parents because they cannot afford a place on their own, and they are working full time jobs. Unions have been all but obliterated making it impossible for workers in the jobs that haven't been shipped out to other countries yet unable to secure reasonable wages and work conditions. The consumer culture that America's economy is based on is simply unsustainable. In the next 10-15 years their is going to be a market crash that will make 2008 look like a pleasant Sunday picnic. Mindless narrow minded greed is going to wreck our country. Not that you care.

Yeah, hard work = money. I am proud of that here in America.

Not so much anymore. Also, the big corps will really start getting automation going in the next ten years. Have fun in your dream land while it lasts.

Jesus didn't believe in letting people walk all over you. Self defense is a universal human right.

ROFL Jesus taught that if someone slapped you that you should turn your other cheek to them, not strike back. Jesus taught that if someone demanded you give them your shirt that you give them your cloak as well. Jesus taught that you should submit to your rulers, whoever they are. Have you even read the bible?

Your right it's never come true. But every time there is a mass shooting this issue comes up. Dems don't bring up anything about the homicide rate in Chicago, which is a mass shooting that recoccurs daily. Which means you don't care about people killed with illegal guns, just the legal guns. The NRA, most gun owners myself included, are totally fine with gun control measures. This includes background checks, restricting sale to felons or mentally ill folks etc. The only way to stop the legal purchase of guns is to ban them all together. This will not happen.

Would Jesus be a member of the NRA? Would Jesus have any need for any gun?

Who do you think the army is made Of? It's made of people who are there to defend us from enemies foreign and domestic. If the day came and a president gave the order to collect guns, there would be civil war. The vast majority of people in the armed forces would side with the American people, to reject the tyrant who tries to ban guns. The 2nd amendment is our next to last defense against tyranny. Freespeech is our last, but without guns to protect that, there is no free speech even.

The topic of this thread is how Republicans don't conduct themselves like good Christians though they profess to be good Christians.

I believe that is an extreme position based on fantasy.

Really?! Who went to prison for the poisoned water in Flint Michigan? Who went to prison when Wells Fargo was caught defrauding MILLIONS of their customers? The rich and connected live by different rules then the poor. Ironically, many of these rich ****'s proclaim to be good Christians while mercilessly trampling over the poor (Standing Rock) but whatever, yea, I'm the one that doesn't see what's going on.

In the emergency room! They still charge them after treating them! It is apparent you've completely bought into right wing propaganda on health care. You must really love for profit insurance companies and big pharma!
