I’m also curious. When officers are protecting an elected official and shove an intimidating figure back, does that person have the right to shove the law enforcement officer?

You’re both correct. I’ve met a small handful of righties who have some remaining moral values, and don’t (completely) hate America.
The exception proves the rule, eh?

Can I answer this? No, not okay. The way they hounded Rand Paul was not cool and could have led to violence.

We all need to turn down the temperature, not up. I agree with Joe Biden on this. I also agree with General Mattis that we are seeing the result of Donald Trump turning up the temperature during his term.

Is that the only way to get them to acknowledge their human decency? By appeasing with negative connotations of Trump?

    Editorialized language noted.
There is that Im aware of no right to shove a cop back. But if a protester isnt being violent the police have no right to touch.

You obviously don’t know the law or security protocols.

Then why do you fail again to list specifics. Provide specifics or you have no point because yelling and shouting isnt violence.

I don’t know who “they” are in your question. People should behave decently no matter what Trump does.

Also, General Mattis is correct that President Trump encourages division and indecency, and is a threat to the Constitution.

Both can be true at the same time.

I saw in the video a lot of people in a public area shouting their anger at a public official. I believe the First Amendment gives them the right to do that. However, shoving a cop and not obeying their orders when they are simply trying to protect a public official moving through a crowd, and following him and hounding him, is not acceptable. And if it’s illegal, those guilty should be charged with whatever laws were broken.

It’s called context. Individuals are responsible for how they behave in individual situations.

Leaders are responsible for setting tone and encouraging or discouraging a pattern of such individual situations.

It’s more than just ice cream that makes a Sundae. ;)

Another case of privileged folk complaining about a peaceful protest....
Protesters cause diners to flee in panic as they 'shut down' a restaurant in Rochester | Daily Mail Online
    Excerpted....

'We're shutting you down': Violent BLM protesters attack stunned diners and smash up a restaurant in Rochester in shocking footage during protest over the death of Daniel Prude
    • A third night of protests took place in Rochester, New York, over the death of Daniel Prude
    • Footage on social media showed demonstrators shutting down a restaurant while residents dinned
    • It mirrored a similar incident in Washington D.C. when some protesters demanded they raise their first in solidarity for the cause
    • Authorities deployed tear gas, and reportedly pepper balls, at protesters who did not disperse at their order
    • The demonstration was declared an 'unlawful assembly' after the group marched through downtown Rochester
    • Daniel Prude, 29, died of suffocation in police custody in March, but outrage ignited when new footage was released this week

It doesn't look good to make racist remarks in defense
    of anti-racism protesters.
