There is simply no reasonable basis for saying that birtherismDonald Trump got away with defending and bankrolling the racist birther conspiracy theories....
There is simply no reasonable basis for saying that birtherism
applied to Obama is racist. Birtherism is a common attack
upon political candidates throughout our history. In recent
history, it was also used against Goldwater, Romney, McCain,
& Ted Cruz. It's a common tactic, one that even Democrats
(eg, Alan Grayson) employ against white candidates.
BTW, historically, birtherism was overtly about race when used
to attack Jefferson, Jackson, & Lincoln.
Why assume racism?Except in the case of Obama, the supporters, backers and rethorics of the birthers were definitely racist and not simply a weird form of nativism (which is, by and large, a form of racism in my opinion).
Except this time it is legit.Awfully early in the thread for Godwins Law to appear, although it isn't unusual.
Its ok if they make it appear a youthful mistakeBiden is becoming more interesting than I'd ever hoped.
If we're to have a black supremacist handling civil rights,
what next...a tobacco seller in Health & Human Services?
A Soviet mole in the Pentagon?
I'm OK with that. Its ok if they make it appear a youthful mistake
Whst excuse for saying it and when they said it iirrelevant if it is still what they believe. So, because of something written by somebody 27 years ago - and ignoring literally everything they have done since then as a practicing and leading civil rights lawyer - we should completely discount them from this kind of office?
I don't care about people who are swayed by this kind of nonsense. I care about somebody's actual track record in delivering effective and fair policies. In this case, her years of service in civil rights law are worth infinitely more than an anonymous letter she wrote while at University (which was clearly in response to the similar, white-supremacist jargon found in the Bell Curve, rather than an explicit endorsement of black supremacy). Do not scrap a perfectly good candidate for a position for the sake of optics.
I'm OK with that.
Kids are idiots....merely adults in training.
I missed it in my haste.Note the word "appear ".
I posted what I found.....You just posted that whites are superior, how is that any different?
not a point....just a reportWhat is your point?
I actually agree......and abide accordinglyGuys, there's no such thing as racial superiority... Human differences pave the way for special talents and greater variation in an array of different directions.
There's no use in speaking of "better" when identifying human differences IMO.
I missed it in my haste.
But her subsequent speech & behavior
will shed light on her current views.
not a point....just a report
did you 'feel' a point?
Why assume racism?
It appears automatic, ie, criticize or challenge Obama..."Racist!".
I've been called that simply because I disagreed with his policies.
Empty accusations of racism destroy credibility.

Everyone who makes that comparison thinks it legit (it isn't).Except this time it is legit.
