IMO, the OP is just a another disingenuous attempt to try and justify what the Trump administration did and is just another use of "false equivalency". Obama administration had to do it because of an influx that they couldn't handle, but the average stay was 6 days. All children were eventually either reunited with their parents or were handed over to relatives or friends of the family.
The Trump administration, otoh, did it as a matter of political policy in order to "send a message", as Trump repeatedly stated, and here we are with still around 600 or so children whom have still not been reunited, the last count I heard which was several weeks ago. Not only were reporters not allowed to see the conditions, neither were the vast majority of even those in Congress! And we also know that some children were being breast fed and yet were still ripped way from their mothers.
The utter depravity of the Trump administration on so many things, including this, was and is truly sickening.
