Christians who are confused about meat

The Reverend Bob

I follow the Qur'an and the teachings of the prophet Muhammad.
Christian here. Can't follow the Law of Moses least I be cursed if I fail to follow all of it, according to St. Paul and I don't believe that the Quran is a revelation from God, so I am not going to follow that either.

I asked a received rational answer, I am not a bicameral and capable understanding meaning not just follow orders. That is what wants us : to understand. 2"Then Ezra the priest brought the law before the assembly of men, women and all who could listen with understanding" , Nehemiah 8
But you didn't receive proof. It may be well enough for you.

How about the bible? Can you follow the bible?

It was Abraham who first circumcised himself. Genesis 17:9-14
And it was Moses who set forth the Laws regarding circumcision. For a guy who is telling people that the Jews failed following the Laws of Moses, you seem awfully ignorant of the content of said Laws. Pot meet kettle

Sure, but this is about the bible.
Which really just means that what the Qur'an has to say is irrelevent. If you ask any Jewish person they will tell you that the Torah was given to the Children of Israel on Mt Sinai through Moshe. You can believe what you want but the orthodoxy of the religion disagrees with you and it's their book.

Prohibition in the Bible had reasons behind them, nothing mystical. God was concern about health of ignorant people eating pork or shell fish in hot climate.
The reasons are not stated except vaguely. Besides, eating pork and shell fish are not going to kill anyone especially in that culture where meat is harder to come by. None of the Jewish restrictions add health benefits. For example meat with milk is not unhealthy. Wearing one kind of fiber isn't particularly comfortable.

Its more likely that pigs are forbidden for other reasons:
  • too similar to human meat
  • pigs eat things from the soil, noses down in the dirt
  • pigs eat food that could go to the poor, cleaning up all the leavings
  • the fat can't be separated from the meat, breaking the symbolism of sacrifices

That's for certain people for specific reasons and doesn't dismiss previous commandments.

??? LOL!!!

  • The Council’s Letter to Gentile Believers
    • Acts 15:22 Then the apostles and elders, with the whole church, decided to choose some of their own men and send them to Antioch with Paul and Barnabas. They chose Judas (called Barsabbas) and Silas, men who were leaders among the believers.
    • 23 With them they sent the following letter: The apostles and elders, your brothers, To the Gentile believers in Antioch, Syria and Cilicia: Greetings.
    • 24 We have heard that some went out from us without our authorization and disturbed you, troubling your minds by what they said.
    • 25 So we all agreed to choose some men and send them to you with our dear friends Barnabas and Paul—
    • 26 men who have risked their lives for the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.
    • 27 Therefore we are sending Judas and Silas to confirm by word of mouth what we are writing.
    • 28 It seemed good to the Holy Spirit and to us not to burden you with anything beyond the following requirements:
    • 29 You are to abstain from food sacrificed to idols, from blood, from the meat of strangled animals and from sexual immorality. You will do well to avoid these things. Farewell.

I'm a Gentile Believer. So you think that the apostles and elders letter is not for me because I don't live in Antioch, Syria, or Galicia? And you don't think that Acts 15:28-29 dismisses previous commandments for me?

Do you know what an irreconcilable difference is? You and I have several of them between us, not the least of which is your attempt to persuade me to accept your version of al-Kitāb.

Moses repeated the laws. It says right in your own book.
Then God said to Abraham, “As for you, you must keep my covenant, you and your descendants after you for the generations to come. This is my covenant with you and your descendants after you, the covenant you are to keep: Every male among you shall be circumcised. You are to undergo circumcision, and it will be the sign of the covenant between me and you. For the generations to come every male among you who is eight days old must be circumcised, including those born in your household or bought with money from a foreigner—those who are not your offspring. Whether born in your household or bought with your money, they must be circumcised. My covenant in your flesh is to be an everlasting covenant. Any uncircumcised male, who has not been circumcised in the flesh, will be cut off from his people; he has broken my covenant.”
Don't you believe in it? Can you still then say you believe in the same God as Abraham?
