Yep, I was totally wrong to worry about escalation between US and Iran

I'm a little skeptical of republican hawks doing a replay of the Iraq war. War drums for election/political reasons.
None of these 'attacks' warrant a war.

You really think the Iraq war was for election reasons?

Pull back for a broader perspective. Look at this
list. US Interventions

(dont get distracted by the "westward expansion" thing.)
here is another.

Timeline of United States military operations - Wikipedia

Now, suppose you are expected to give a well
considered explanation for this, some unifying theme.

You cannot just make things up or write an opinion
about it and call that fact.

So, what is really going on? Why Korea, Vietnam,
Grenada, etc etc? Why wars that cannot be won?
What is being accomplished by them?

Shall we move on to Kennedy?
You seem to be slicing the pie thinner and thinner.
Sure, we can move on to JFK. But he was in office much later on in American history.
History 101 will tell you that conservatives in the south used to be raging democrats. Those same people still love their confederate flag to this day.

I don't feel provoked, yet. A country that is probably more concerned is Pakistan. India might be concerned. Notice Iran isn't shooting their stuff? That would provoke a war.

Iran is claiming the drone was shot down over their land space, America is claiming the drone was shot down over Iran's water territory, which they're falsely claiming is international waters, there are not international waters in the strait, half belongs to Iran , half belongs to UAE.

Meanwhile:

Today in the Kashmir 4 Indian troops were killed by separatists.

In Nigeria 3 Boko Haram suicide bombers killed at least 30 people.

11 people were killed and 20 injured by twin explosions in Mogadishu, Somali claimed by al-Shabaab.
Keeping a sense of perspective is helpful.

That is a key point which the US is ignoring. Transit Passage Rights in the Strait of Hormuz and Iran’s Threats to Block the Passage of Oil Tankers | ASIL discusses rights and responsibilities in the area. It's complicated as that article discusses but under normal circumstances, ships and aircraft have a must refrain from activities other than those incident to their normal modes of continuous and expeditious transit,

A drone hanging out there is not in transit.

I think the US is trying to provoke Iran into doing something that would justify US going to war with Iran. It's not a Gleiwitz-type situation but one step removed.

SO if the USA is willing to outright lie about international waters, what makes us think we can believe anything else they say about this conflict???

"In a major provocation, Iran shot down an unarmed and unmanned U.S. RQ-4A Global Hawk drone while it was flying in international airspace over the Strait of Hormuz Thursday, U.S. Central Command confirmed in a statement."

Iran says it's 'ready for war' after US military confirms it shot down American drone

Personally, I'm skeptical of the facts in the story, but either way, that's another step toward a shooting war.
Iran better tone down the rhetoric, or they might just end up being the world’s largest supplier of glass.

Lol.

I was pleasantly surprised by the Donald's words today: ""Fortunately, that drone was unarmed. It was not -- there was no man in it, it was in international waters but we didn't have a man or woman in the drone, we had nobody in the drone. Would have made a big, big difference."

Apparently, the U.S. has armed, manned drones. News to me. :)
