Apparently we aren't a secular stateThe expression "in God we trust" is incompatible with a secular state.
I mean, in my country the word God cannot be present in any governmental building or in any juridic document

In Michiganistan, you'll find religious oaths in court....it's all about "God".
But if I put "In God We Trust" on my leases or over my office door, this
would be a violation of fair housing laws. (Religious affiliation is a
protected group.)

I always assumed it was a connective part of the word to the following word, such as you see in inshallah, or in Turkish when speaking of someone to connect the word to the person, such as "sen" is you, but "seni" connects what comes next to you, like "ben seni seviyorum", or "I love you". I don't know the construction of Arabic like that. It seems as if "Allah-u" connects Allah to the word "great" in the same way. Still, isn't Allah, just the Arabic word for God, regardless?
It's pretty easy to avoid most civic responsibilities such as jury duty, serving in the military, paying all your taxes, voting, and engaging in charitable work and community service. You have to want to do those things, and to want that, one needs to love ones country, meaning that at a minimum, one needs to feel included. The message that motto sends is very clear. Atheists are not included in the "We," who from the American atheists' perspective, are "They" as are we to them.
