Trump's latest, latest, really, really dumb thing

If you spoke that way to someone’s face, they would not thank you for the defence, they would consider it an insult.
You're right.
When we discuss politicians here, it's typical
to be more candid than if they were right here,
& we had to consider their feelings.
What do you think?

This is true of course. But my point was more specific. You claim that you “defended” AOC. You didn’t. Certainly not with comments like that. If that is a defence then saying Trump suffers from pre dementia is a defence. Which of course it is not. It is an insult. And depending on the context I suspect an ad hominem fallacy as well.

If you actually watch the video it is clear this is a straw man attack. President Trump doesn’t of himself say wind mills cause cancer. He said house prices near wind turbines drop 75%. He gives a reason for the drop. It is because “they” say it causes cancer. He isn’t saying windmills cause cancer. He is mocking those people do say that. Here we have yet another example of Trump haters trying to create a straw man out of whole cloth.
He's wrong on the house prices dropping by 75%. So, any way, it's a dumb statement.

Sometimes I'm glad my intuitive thinking doesn't put me in the shoes of others.

Well, you're just plain wrong in multiple ways.
1) It's not an ad hom fallacy because I'm evaluating her potential...not using personal criticism to defeat an argument.
Ref: Ad hominem - Wikipedia
2) You keep using Canuckistanian spellings (the sign of an inferior state of mind).
3) I defended AOC against criticism that she's innately dumb.
4) Your Trump analogy fails. AOC has potential to mature & become better. Trump is set in his ways.
5) Your claim that Trump suffers from "pre dementia" is mere insult disguised as diagnosis.

Giving due respect to the OP, I think we should have threads whereas Trump says something that's truthful and at least somewhat compassionate because such threads would be what's so unusual.

Of course they can't just leave Trump be, but as much as the Dems can they really should and focus entirely on winning 2020. Really, anymore it is beating a dead horse and it's a time honored sure to fail method of campaigning on the failures of the incumbent that the Dems cannot afford to take. At all levels they need to ignore Trump and focus on what they'll do for working Americans. That alone should be able to squeeze through even most weak candidates.

I don't see the best response being either/or as I believe we do need to still cite Trump's indecent words and actions, but also others as well even if they're fellow Dems. But I do agree that too much of that kind of "mantra" really deadens their impact after a while.

While that's true, it's also true history is overflowing with one example after another where campaigning on the incumbent's failures leads to a loss. Really, IMO, all they really need is something like "we're tired of a president who is reluctant to sit through daily briefings. As president I'll stay on top of information and use it to x and y and z." It acknowledges his failures, but it doesn't make them the focus.
However, I worry this "anyone but Trump" is going to lead to the exact type of campaign that will obliterate the Democrat's chances before the election begins. Reluctance to let Mueller finish his investigation also isn't going to help. Their calls for impeachment are not helping. Failure to realize Pence has an established record of being the thing Liberals hate is not helping. Trump's chances have a lot depending on a wall, but the Dems can't afford to bank on that failure.

Add to Trump's latest-really-really-dumb-thing his comments about the Notre Dame fire.

He called to express condolences - all well and good.

Then egomaniacal blusterer-in-chief couldn't help himself and had to give fire fighting advice to the Parisians.

Once again he embarrasses himself and the rest of us in the eyes of the world.

Maybe he will try to make a deal to rebuild it.

And rename it the “Trump Cathedral”.

Twilight Hue

Twilight, not bright nor dark, good nor bad.
President Trump said “If you have a windmill anywhere near your house, congratulations, your house just went down 75 percent in value. And they say the noise causes cancer.“ Please note, “they say ...”

President Trump never for himself said that windmills cause cancer. Sorry that pours cold water over your “fun” of attempting to mock him for something he actually did not say. Too bad for you. But if you persist in trying to mock him for saying something he actually didn’t say, that only makes you look foolish. And to continue to claim he said something when you have been provided with evidence he did not is to lie.
He's clearly addressing what's come to be called "wind turbine syndrome".

Believe it or not, it actually exists in the same spirit of when cell phones where once thought to cause brain damage when they first came out. I think we get these things every time a new or almost new technology comes out of the closet.

New scientist has an article that's both informative and amusing regarding the 'ailments' caused by wind turbines.

The sickening truth about wind farm syndrome

Of course the Socialist Libby's will obviously take it out of context among other things.

Oh no!
That can only take a possible second place.

His idea to throw tons of water over red hot stonework takes the biscuit.
A naive suggestion it was, but helicopter bucket delivered water would be reasonable.
Besides, they were already spraying water on the rocks (which wouldn't have been red hot).

He's addressing nonsense he pulled from his derriere.
