Trump could win

The "people" did not elect Trump in 2016.
Trump lost the Popular Vote.
The Electoral College appointed elected Trump President.
Fixed.
This is how our system works, ie, the electors
from each state vote for the President.
It's related to, but not about, the popular vote.

Tis an odd system, but Trump was duly elected,
no matter what gadflies like @columbus say.
And most people aren't pursuing changing it.

I never said he was not "duly appointed"
I said that the "people" did not vote him in.

I thought she be.......East Indian
That too.
But Biden was adamant about having a black woman as his running mate.
And while she's now somewhat cagey about it, she has identified herself
as black in her book.

The "people" did vote him in.
Just not a majority.
Note also that Hillary also lacked a majority (ie, over 50%).

The race has tightened up.Biden 49 percent Trump 47 percent.Trump could win this.

If they say he has 47% he probably has 55%+. Just based on their own screwing up... :D

The people that are Trump's base are a population that these polls cannot reach. That means they're never on the polls, basically. So all that you get on the polls are right-leaning dems and indies. Due to the way media deals with Trumpers most Trumpers lie about supporting Biden on the phone too.

In this election there are in general two types of people who don't vote:

Those who don't think.
Those who don't care.

It was a dismissal of your mischievous rhetorical question.
To answer your mischievous rhetorical question....

Yes I paid attention in civics class.
But then I paid attention to the real world application and realized the Popular Vote is nothing more than a popularity contest.
It in no way "elects" the President of the US.
The Electoral College appoints the President of the US and they may or may not take the popularity contest results into consideration when do.
