Some off the top of my head .Which mainstream ones do you glean this understanding from?
And where do you base your understanding about the ' mercy ' of God ? How much assurance can we have from 'intuition ' ? Is there anything tangible or objective that you can point to thats not subjective? This pertains to ' assurance ' . I find by comparison little if any assurance in other religions .Intuition coupled with great belief in the mercy of God.
The certainty of the Journey and the Gurantee is what I believe makes the difference between other religions . Most are dependent on ' self ' ,which doesn't give certainty. its a ' if ' and ' maybe ' path .I do believe all forms of religions have an inward journey yes, Sufism is not called a mainstream path in Islam it is called mystecism path within islam because much of the teaching has to do with the internal and sometimes intuitive part of the person.
The discussion here is based on what the requirements for your belief/ religion are . What is required of you to do in order to attain. Its immediate benefits/ results and its future promise / fulfilment.
Now this of course is based on whether or not said belief is true or not. But first let's discuss what's on offer here and my argument is , I don't believe anyone can offer more than I already have ,as a bible believing Christian . Not immediately or in the future.
Sufism is about letting go of the ego/self but one have to know one self fully to be able to let go.The certainty of the Journey and the Gurantee is what I believe makes the difference between other religions . ///That said, in my religion, in a nutshell, the goal of practice is Moksha, which is Self-realization/liberation from samsara, the cycle of rebirth. This is done by living in accordance with one's dharma and by learning to let go of worldly desires and attachments.//If there was a hard and fast list of requirements for my religion, I assure you that I wouldn't have signed up.

It's for each individual determine what is "true," not you.
That remains to be seen. But a bit of advice. Tread carefully here. This forum does not condone proselytizing.
Well in a sense . What's on ' offer' by Jesus is a ' free gift ' . Thats why I offer this challenge, if you like . Because I don't see anything like this presented in any other truth claim/ religion . Every other religion is about what the individual has to do ,and keep doing .It sounds like "who gives the best discount". Whats on offer??
And its a desire to let go of desires ,so it seems like the goal is unattainable?
That on paper with all the 'recognised ' truth claims out there ,that what is on offer by Jesus cannot be ' bettered ' .
What is offered to whosoever is certainty of reconciliation to God , Peace with God , The gift of the Holy Spirit, fellowship with God , Guaranteed eternal life in heaven when you die . No fear of death ect .

In my opinion you are just following the intuitions and subjective thought processes/beliefs of the ancient men who wrote the Bible. So I find as little assurance in your beliefs as you find in mine. And where do you base your understanding about the ' mercy ' of God ? How much assurance can we have from 'intuition ' ? BOGOF.Um...aren't all gifts free? Isn't that the definition of "gift?" I mean, if it it came at a price, it wouldn't be a gift now, would it?
As an aside, try walking into a gift shop and announcing, "I'm here for my gift!"
