I propose regulation for movies & other simulation of gun usage....
- Armors in movies should be highly trained in safety protocols,
& licensed to practice the profession.
- The armorer would have full & final authority in all gun matters,
including over domineering directors & actors.
Not a profession for shrinking violets.
- Anyone coming into contact with a gun must personally
verify that it is safe to handle, & has no live rounds, eg,
armorer, actor, director.
- Pointing a gun at anyone should only happen during filming.
Rehearsal & other activities should always have guns pointed
in a safe direction.
- Prop guns should never leave sight of the armorer except
when stored securely, ie, locked away with highly restricted
access.
- Vetting of safe gun status should be easy & obvious. This
would require new standards for function & more reliable
verification. Think of the Glock "red gun".
