I wasn't concerned about the depth of responses to that monstrosity of a thread I created; I was just hoping someone picked up on the relationship between "Max", his mentor "Phil", and a decision to pursue physics, and the actual advice of the same sort given by a certain Johann Philipp Gustav von Jolly to Max Planck. And maybe some credit for the part about apples. If Newton was ****** about his "competition" (Leibniz) publishing first, I can only imagine how he'd take being most famous for getting hit on the head with an apple.
