Skanky Old Mongrel!
Can't argue if that is what is being projected. It is religious cannibalism:
Galatians 5:15 The Passion Translation (TPT)
15 But if you continue to criticize and come against each other over minor issues, you’re acting like wild beasts trying to destroy one another!
Then you have the other end of the spectrum.
I came in and stood in a long line at 10 in the morning as I was greeted by attendants with smiles and a warm welcome. In line there were all sizes, shapes and colors from every age. A buzz of talk permeated throughout the line.
As the doors finally opened, every entrance is lined with an excited welcome team. The smell of coffee, tea and some treats are there for those who come in. Excitement is everywhere, smiles are everywhere, hugs are abundant as they file into the sanctuary.
The countdown starts on the big screens and when it hits 0 a loud rumble of praise erupts and the worship begins. Hands are lifted up, young people are jumping up and down in praise, hearts are filled with joy as a beautiful exchange begins to happen as we sense the presence of God through worship.
The message is uplifting, real, transparent and heart felt. An opportunity to give yourself to God through Jesus is offered at the end of the service. Literally dozens of people lift their hands in acknowledgment of their need of a Savior. A Bible is given to each of them.
As we leave, we see another long line of people that weaves around the block is waiting to get in as the process repeats itself at 12pm; 2pm; 6pm and 8pm.
The church was 2 years old in NY City. Today they have four locations.
The Church is growing.
What part are you from?
Thankyou very much for the Galatians chapter/verse.
I live in Kent, England, and have never seen or heard of any religious receptions such as you have described in my life. I went out this morning to buy duck feed and the roads were full of travelers, but the churches will have been mostly empty, Ken. I sincerely believe that apart from convenience-faith we are nearly a secular society.
Convenience-faith has various faces, but, for instance, many prisoners will tick the religion boxes because it adds colour to their otherwise bland lives.
