I need to ask a stupid question. I should know this by now, but I don't, because stuff and reasons. ...How is 'Charedi' pronounced? Where is the stress on the syllables? I have heard several pronunciations, I'm asking for the one that won't make me sound /too/ foreign.

Yeah, transliterations can be confusing. The 'ch' and 'a' are as in 'Bach", the 'e' is like the ay in 'hay' unless you're talking Modern Hebrew/Sephardic style in which case it's like 'end'. And the 'i' is ee like bee.
The stress is on the second syllable if you're speaking English and the last if you're speaking Hebrew.

I really have no idea what you're talking about. I always thought you were really respectful towards me. Maybe I'm just dense.

I was hoping the polygyny thread might be fruitful, no pun intended. I'm not sure why I thought that.

Just a heads up, all those new people are probably from a local Catholic University. We're checking it, but that seems to be the case. They all seem to be in the same class.

I was *this* close to dropping the 'Noahide' label because of the appropriation and misuse of it by certain other groups becoming extremely annoying, but there is no other label so I suppose I'll just stick to defending the, uh, actual definition. Just that if it drops from my profile, it's not because I ditched it wholesale.

Why not bat Noach instead? You can even do it using Hebrew letters instead of transliteration.

Thank you for informing me about the Septuagint's history. I had just remembered that Christian authors used Greek translations of the Tanach, and had foolishly assumed that the texts they used were the same which exist now.

Sometimes I would much rather write responses than just like all your posts, but there's rarely anything to add. Occasionally I have been tempted to argue with you just for the sake of it, create a troll xian account or something. I won't, of course, but the thought has crossed my mind.

That last post was a complete burn! It brings to mind the time you laughed at some of my arguments when I was a xian and your doing that was one of the things that gave me pause to consider them. Perhaps a good debate tactic if utilised in the correct manner!!

      Thanks Tumah,
When I was saying imperfect I meant it would be incomplete. Isn't that correct?
To me it looks like it could be translated I AM because I AM or I Exist because I Exist. Is that correct?
If it was Aleph Hey Waw Hey, how would it be pronounced?
      1. Tumah
        Tumah
I understood what you were saying and I was explaining that the prefix makes it imperfective, not imperfect. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Imperfect#Semitic_languages

The middle word "asher" means "that" or "which".

I do not know how it would be pronounced, the same as I don't know how the Tetragrammaton was pronounced.
