  • Yes, I'm still doing portraits. I'm interested in seeing what kind of ideas have been "knocking around your head"!

Winter seems like a natural time to become insular. Out here in Colorado, the winter is dragging on into April. There was a heavy snowfall in Denver yesterday, and another one predicted for tomorrow. Here in the Springs -- just an hour south -- there's been less snow, but much the same cold as Denver. I can't wait until it warms into Spring!
I've been doing fine. I was thinking last night how much I enjoyed talking with you on the phone. Other than that, I've been preparing a canvas for painting. It seems I take a long time between paintings to get inspired again to do another one. But oh well. :)
Thank you for the frubal; I returned the favor and found that your posts are very insightful, too. :)
The photo shoot was horrifying! But that was my fault. I am terrible with a camera. They should never allow me to be near one. If I ever get in a position to have someone else do my photowork, I will not hesitate. I will hire the talent for it.

I think a large part of my problem is I simply don't take the time to set up the shots as I should. I have great ideas for shots, but I don't execute them. Instead, I just take a bunch of snaps and hope for the best. LOL!
In my experience, a good conversation needs just as good listeners as it does talkers. I betcha Don and I could get you talking before you knew it, though. Don is one of those guys who is extremely easy to converse with. He's extremely knowledgeable on several subjects but he doesn't wear his knowledge on his sleeve, so he doesn't make anyone feel like they know less than him.

I just began a couple of paintings, by the way. They're of the same person -- a friend here in town. I took about twenty photos of her and lucked out when one of them proved suitable to paint from. I'm going to try to do these new ones in a different style for me. It will be very experimental.
We went to a brand new coffee shop. It had a concrete floor, cinder block walls, and great coffee. It was in the same part of town as the local homeless shelter, which is a very poor part of town, so we were wondering if it would get enough clients to stay in business.

I got into a discussion with the barrista. He's reading up on economics. He's especially interested in the Federal Reserve and whether it's Constitutional.

It's moments like that I miss you. You would have loved the conversations!
