Rasmus Paludan, the leader of the far-right anti-immigration party Hard Line was supposed to attend and speak at the event which was organized on the same day of the weekly Friday prayers by the Muslims.

But the authorities preempted his arrival and arrested him outside Malmo. This led his supporters to create ruckus which later escalated into violent protests.

Believed to be a threat to law and order in the country, Rasmus Paludan has been barred from entering Sweden for his racist and anti-muslim activities for two years.

Local media reports that though police denied Rasmus Paludan entry to Malmo, his party members went ahead with the burning of the Quran and video recorded the incident. The situation then spiraled out of control when members of his party started to clash with the police.

Not just that, but when asked to stop, they violently rioted.

But I predict that xenophobic right-wingers around the world will be quick to defend that particular riot as totally justified.

Regardless of who started this particular episode, Muslims seem to lead the charge these days when it comes to crying "blasphemy".

Burning books or flags SHOULD BE protected speech. If others want to protest such burnings, that's fine. But riots over burning books should not be allowed, and such rioters should be shamed and feel embarrassed.

In Europe the news media goes out of its way to protect migrants. When charged with a crime, the name of the perpetrators are not revealed as well as his nationality. Like wise when a major event like a riot, occurs, little is said. Who else gets up set when a Koran is destroyed?

I have not seen any of that within the Muslim community I am often a part of now through my Muslim friends.

In a few countries in middle east yes there are some problems with extremism, but that is a minority of people who are Muslims.
You can judge me for being a person who are friends with Muslims. I have been to their mosque a few times now, and it's good people there.

Nothing by government officials, unless the flag was not yours (like, stolen off a flag pole somewhere.)

Althougu in June Trump said he thinks flag burning should be met with 1 year in prison so I don't doubt if he gets reelected there'll be another challenge to its protected speech status.

You will probably get counter protests or riots by Americans who get super duper mad when you burn flags though because, as it turns out, American exceptionalism is still a thing.
