Is this really how a president should answer questions?

I agree it was an emotionally based question presented by the reporter with no real 'meat' in how it was asked.

I don't think Trump should have responded that way by saying he was a bad reporter outright, I think it would have been better served for Trump to suggest to have people redirect their fear into affirmative action and doing their part to help get through this. A lot like people did in World War II although it's not a hostile enemy that we are combating, but rather a hostile virus.
Agreed. He could have said some things, I suppose, about understanding people's uncertainty, the need to keep in mind the evidence is most people have nothing to fear from it, the capacity of the country's intellect and resources to manage it, and the need for every citizen to do his or her bit....

....just wouldn't sound much like Trump, I guess....

Even I am not a huge fan of Trump I would hope we could keep this discussion in a civilized manner. I don't say you can not say your opinion, but somewhat nicer words would maybe help you gain more support for your view, (especially since you are new in the forum)

What? Me worry?
Yes, I live in Norway. But if you don't know, Bad decisions from the American president do actually affect our life here too. And I want the best for the American people. Honestly, I do not think Trump as a person is the best you guys can have.

You're entitled to your opinion, but opinions have been compared to certain bodily orifices: everybody has one...

Maybe not, in many ways. However, I am much more concerned about substance over style. I look at actual results not his childish outbursts, and sometimes not so childish outbursts, as the governing factor in judging him as President.

Many get totally twitterpated by what he says, with little knowledge of what he does and has done.

From my perspective, he has done many good things, with an opposing party that has as it's goal, not to work with him, to resist everything he does, even at the cost of the people, not to beat him at the ballot box, but to literally destroy him.

Recently it was said by a democrat activist, "I wish all the Trump supporters would get Corona virus".

Bill Mahr, a late night TV host here said," I am glad the economy is doing terrible, I hope we go into a full recession, that might get him out of office".

This is how ugly it has gotten, and 80% of the ugliness lies at the door of the democrats.

Do you hear about these things in Norway?

I doubt it.

Yes you guys are of course entitled to have your opinion too :) that is not what I tried doing with this OP, I wanted to hear views of the behavior and wording of the president, not about his politics

Your T-rump, besides being yellow and orange, uses twitter language with every new challenge. Would you want to be him? Usually he's shouting above the helicopter noise, but since the corona has adopted a subdued monotone.

I am very aware of how some Democratic politicians are speaking of Trump, sometimes they do get too far in what they say.
Norwegian politicians are very much the same way, they speak badly about each other all the time, we have a rightwing party here that has been slammed for almost 30 years now by all other parties, so yes it is not only in America they do that

It is this video I posted i discuss, so asking a legal question as he does in the beginning of the video, should not be asked? or should the president of America actually be honest and tell the people that, Yes we do have a crisis on our hand? Everyone knows now that corona kills people and that it spreading like fire in dry grass. Why can not Trump just say it and be done with it, and do something about it?
He has been saying it for quite a while. All of the experts that participated in this briefing and others have said so. Did you watch it, or just found this clip?

Do something? Italy identified it's first case of imported corona virus within a day of the United States. Compare the two nations now.

Very early on, When Trump blocked flights from China, he was called a racist and xenophobe, no more, that action alone saved American lives.

China, knowing that Wuhan was full of people exposed to the virus, allowed planes from there to fly all over the world.

The President is not a dictator, unlike what you have learned from the propaganda. He cannot just decide to spend money, without the approval of Congress.

He must work with and through the governments of 50 states, he cannot just start ordering them around.

In our system, public health efforts are primarily the responsibility of the state governments, not the federal government.

The federal government does have a role, but it is based in cooperation, not power

Let me know when your federal gov't will assume the rightful, socialistic position.
Yes, I know, americans will rather kick and scream than entertain anything vaguely Marxist.
Your reputation of belligerence preceeds you.

Like I said the choices aren't very good on either side.

Everybody's voting on the premise of the lesser of two evils respectively.

If you ask me, we should be questioning why people are even saying that each and every single election cycle.

I would have no problem with it if it didn't impact peoples individual freedom and liberty so much.

Rise to the occassion and redefine those freedoms and liberties. You are your own best alchemist, something that will be expected of people in true Huxley form.

We all predicted things would get bad under Trump and they did, but now its going to be the worst situation for the country that we could ever have imagined, And Trump is largely to blame, coronavirus was established in the USA in early Jan and what did Trump do, nothing, Feb, nothing, March "its not a problem, and suddenly its like martial law the worst possible outcome. and you Trumpies have yourself to blame for all this, this is your crisis, you voted for it, and all of us have to suffer the consequences.

This was another case of Gotcha being played.

"Mr. President, what would you say to reassure fearful Americans?"

That's a gotcha question? Really?

Even after all these years, the adoration of the Sheeples continues to amaze me.
