Pelosi pulls power play

So for theresonlynow and others who keep saying so what he can pick a different venue and make the speech anyways, this is what I heard on the news.

He can do it from his oval office, but it will not be on tv, he can write it down but he won't like it. He can do it in a different venue, but it will not be seen on tv.

He is use to being in the spot light and on a reality tv show, he becomes uncomfortable in this type of thing if he can not be on tv. So it will make him uncomfortable and possibly angry.

But if all of you Republicans saying hes happy and he wont care who cares, well if your right uh he will wake up in a fabulous mood. I expect him to be writing nice things to Pelosi and to be in a happy positive mood.

But if I wake up tomorrow and hes throwing a fit ill know you are wrong. I suspect y'all will then say something liek he has the right to be angry!

Its either one way or the other cant have it both ways, if Pelosi has power for him not to get his way he will be upset and angry and she doesn't hell be in a pleasant mood which means you were right. But sit here and say it doesnt matter to him , your only right if hes in a good mood so.

Governance by extortion.

That's a perfect description of what Trump is trying to do. Yay to Nancy for saying NO.

I don't think she has the power to stop him.
I see no reason to oppose the speech other
than fearing he might make political hay.

She's done it. There's no invitation to speak. If he shows up to speak, she can deny him the microphone and even turn it off if he tries to push his way to the podium.

Preventing the speech in Congress.....that would be interesting.
I believe she's smarter than that, but I hope she does.

She's being very smart. He's a bully and the answer to a bully is not to give him what he demands. He only understands power and he's going to learn that the butt kissing that the Republicans are doing just won't work with a Democratic House. It's going to be a very painful lesson given what's liable to happen as TSA employees look for jobs that will give them a paycheck that the need to use to eat and pay the rent, for example.

I just hope they resolve it soon.
But I don't expect it.

It will go on until something breaks badly. There's a lot of creaking right now, but the pain is not bad enough yet.

Whoops sorry! I just took a look at his tweets hes already started with angry tweeting at the Dems for their decision, not quite a fit yet, but its hateful, looks like its coming.

So you've been proved wrong already!Latest tweet,

It is becoming more and more obvious that the Radical Democrats are a Party of open borders and crime. They want nothing to do with the major Humanitarian Crisis on our Southern Border. #2020!

Your all wrong, Trump is being hateful, he does not feel like who cares Ill do it anyways, hes already bothered by it sorry, he throws a fit and yall are wrong and its coming whew he is angry and unhappy, the exact exact exact opposite of what y'all have been saying sorry!

Funny how rightwingers are saying that it's a jab at Trump.
Ignore the people who would have to work unpaid for this to happen.
It's their way, after all.
The reduction of labor to a mere commodity.

This sounds more like petulance to me.

She's given no good reason to postpone it.
It's hardly being a "bully" to expect to give this speech on schedule.
If anything, that would would apply to her for denying him what is normal.

Are you saying here that her denial of his address is justified solely by discord?
Criminy... we have more than one childish bully leading parties.

It will go on until something breaks badly. There's a lot of creaking right now, but the pain is not bad enough yet.

That would depend upon who is bearing the pain.
Neither side seems to care at this point.
They won't until political fallout forces a change.

I'm quite surprised how the left is generally happy with this shutdown,
& defend it in light of the high personal & financial costs. I thought
they were supposed to be the caring ones?

I've tried fixing the quote situation in the above post.
Dozens of times.
Can't do it.

Suffice to say that the Dems & their supporters appear driven by anger.
They won't give in, & are oblivious to the costs.
Trump is no better.
But Democrats have lost any claim to moral high ground.

I don't know.
But every now & then, the quote feature just blows up.
Usually it's exacerbated by replying to a colored font
(@Shadow Wolf is one culprit).
The software will start adding "[QU0TE]" &/or "[/QU0TE]"
here & there, & I cannot remove the additions.
(Note that I used "0" instead of "O" so you could see this.)

Twilight Hue

Twilight, not bright nor dark, good nor bad.
You are gonna have a bad time when Dems take back Congress and the Presidency.

Actually quite the contrary , I'm going to have a great time!

In fact I hope they do , and when they run everything into the ground so badly , people eventually will wake up to the fact that they will never ever vote Democrat again once they realize how miserable their lives will become under Democrats.

Imagine the whole nation looking like San Francisco. Dirty filthy trash in the streets needles on the ground, drug addicts everywhere, illegals running amok, homelessness because everything is so damn expensive and unaffordable except of course for the streets. Every liberal policy ever put forth by Democrats is now in that City offering a future glimpse into the wonderful world we will live in under Democrat leadership for the entire nation.

And when we implode horribly under all those wonderful liberal-leftist policies like the country of Greece, the day of reckoning will be a wonderful and beautiful sight to behold.

Or many Republicans will wake up and turn against Trump and take our side and rejoice, you know like they are doing now.

And you think this is a wise move? All Trump has to do is rent an arena and give his SofU address the people that matter.
It'd say a lot about The State of the Nation if he had to do that .. oh, and he'd charge it to Trump Enterprises.

Maybe Trump's Foundation will pop for the biggest bestest campaign rally ever!
It hasn't actually been closed down yet, has it?

I know.
Yours is a commonly given reason for refusing to end
the shutdown. Let's say Trump is equally entrenched...
How many months would you allow the shutdown to
continue before the damage becomes unacceptable?

Were I either party, I'd have given it 2 weeks max.
Otherwise winning is costlier than losing.

Yeah, like when Obama destroyed the economy and caused the second worst depression in history.

Oh, wait, that was the Republican Bush. It was the Democrat Obama that turned it around and started a seven-year recovery.

I have regularly been watching State of the Union addresses since the late 1960's but if Trump gives one before he reopens government I'll be darned if I watch it. You know it will be nothing but a political rant on "the Wall" and why the Dems are all at fault, thus hoping that at least his base will forget the fact that he said that he would own it and that Mexico would pay for "the Wall" that he has said over 200 times in public.

We can examine your claim by looking at posts on RF.
The anti-Trumpers are the ones far & away most prone
to insult, name calling, demonization, & dedicated to
maintaining the shutdown because of hatred for Trump.
Post #55 illustrates this with both animosity & intransigence.
