I am interested to know how chrisitans account for the contradictions of the bible ? does "GOD" contradict himself ?!!

If you think the Bible contains contradiction, you should read some Zen Buddhist's texts. Now THAT's contradiction.
:beach:
There are only people who are confused about what the Bible teaches.... there are no contradictions.I am interested to know how chrisitans account for the contradictions of the bible ? does "GOD" contradict himself ?!!

Who are we to believe??
Jesus came to confirm the Torah, not to destroy it (Matthew 23:2-3).
While Paul abolished the teachings of the Torah (Acts 13:39).
What hour was Jesus crucified??
(Mark 15:25) It was the third hour, and they crucified him.
(John 19:14) It was the sixth hour, and he was not yet crucified
Who bore the cross??
(Matthew 27:32) The compelled Simon to bear the cross of Jesus./ also(Luke 23:26)& (Mark 15:21).
(John 19:17) Jesus was bearing his cross himself.
What did they put Jesus on??
(Mark 15:21) They put Jesus on the cross.
(Peter 2:24) They put Jesus on the tree./ also (Gal3:13)
What did they give Jesus to drink??
(Mark 15:23) They gave him wine mingled with myrrh to drink.
(Matthew 27:34) Thew gave him vinegar mingled with gall to drink.
What happened to Judas??
(Mat 27:5) Judas went and hanged himself.
(Acts 1:18) Judas fell headlong, and burst asunder in the midst, and all his bowels gushed out.
Many earlier sects of Christians believed that it was Judas who died in the place of Jesus, with the contradictions at hand, maybe those earlier Christians were right.
Who went to the grave of Jesus??
(John 20:1) Early on the first day of the week, while it was still dark, Mary Magdalene went to the tomb and saw that the stone had been removed from the entrance.
(Mat 28:1) Mary Mag-da-le-ne and another Mary.
(Luke 24:10) Mary Mag-da-le-ne and another Mary and Jo'an-na and some other women.
(Mark 16:1) Mary Mag-da-le-ne and another Mary and Sa-lo'-me.
Angel??
(John 20:12) One woman saw two angels at the grave of Jesus.
(Mat 28:2) Two women saw one angel.
(Luke 24:3) Three women saw two men.
(Mark 16:5) Three women saw one man.
Who was told??
(Luke 24:9) Mary the Mag-da-le and Mary the Mother of James and Jo'an-na returned back from the grave and told the eleven apostles all of what they saw.
(Mark 16:8) Mary the Mag-da-le and Mary and Sa-lo'-me returned
back from the grave, and did not tell anyone anything because
they were afraid.
No, sorry... I can't.Can you please solve my confusion about it , becoz it seems to contradict each other
Yep - contradictions suck. Maybe all these texts are human compositions ...4:78Wherever you are, death will overtake you, though you are in towers, raised high. And if good befalls them, they say: This is from Allah; and if a misfortune befalls them, they say: This is from thee. Say: All is from Allah. But what is the matter with these people that they make no effort to understand anything?4:79Whatever good befalls thee (O man), it is from Allah, and whatever misfortune befalls the, it is from thyself. We have sent the (O Prophet) to mankind as a Messenger. And Allah is sufficient as a witness. The Holy Quran
No, sorry... I can't.
A person has to be open to the Holy Spirit to understand the Word of God.... and I don't think you plan on accepting Jesus as your Lord and Savior anytime in the near future, right?
You are trying to force your way of thinking into our faith... it does not work like that.
In Sacred Scripture, God speaks to man in a human way.
To interpret Scripture correctly, the reader must be attentive to what the human authors truly wanted to affirm, and to what God wanted to reveal to us by their words...
Sacred Scripture must be read and interpreted in the light of the same Spirit
by whom it was written."[/quote]
Meaning ?
You're welcome.thank you , this is what i thought too
It's not a book... it's a faith.... and the Christian faith is not found inside a book.Hmmm........if the "book" that says jesus is my lord contradicts itself like that.....i guess not
Just an innocent question, right? Not an attack on Christians or the Christian faith?did i force my way of thinking?! i was just asking a question , LOL
No contradictions in a story.... it's not meant to be read like a science book... it's not a difficult concept if your really trying to understand.which means that he (contradists himself) to seem more human and less God ?
Any time you'd like a lesson on a specific part of Christian theology, please start a new thread... I don't have the time to explain the Bible line by line in this thread..did he want to affirm (contradicting stuff ) at the same time ?
It was written by the Holy Spirit and must be read by those in the Spirit ... ie. Christians.Meaning ?
Zen Buddhism says the same thing.I find that life itself is often contradictory, and at the very least, counterintuative. There can still be some truth found in it for those with eyes to see and ears to hear.
4:78

To whom are you directing this?you assume it's a contradiction without asking any muslim about it ,Right ?
Hmmmm.... is this the "official" Muslim way of clearing things up?your ignorance is your own problem really ,not ours
Again... it's not a contradiction (clear enough yet?) and every Muslim I've ever spoken to told me that I must refer to the teachings of your faith (the Hadith if I remember correctly) to correctly understand a passage in the Koran._the quran must be read by Muslims only in order to be interpreted right (like i have been answered in this thread), then you are at liberty to say it's a contradiction then
Hey, some people enjoy bashing those who believe differently than they do.... have fun.... my faith teaches me to love you even if you believe I'm ignorant and you just don't care about me as a person or my faith. Jesus Christ, my Lord and My God teaches me to love our neighbor as ourselves... so answer me back please... even if it is just to try and humiliate this ignorant Christian. The reason i started thid thread ,becoz the passage of (contradictions) i posted, have already been posted before in (Quran: did jesus die?) thread , and no christian bothered to answer or defend his scripture
And remember..... don't worry about us Christians... the Koran says we'll be with you in the afterlife:
"-all who believe in God and the Last Day and do righteous deeds - shall have their reward with their Sustainer; and no fear need they have, and neither shall they grieve." Surah 2:62
...or does the Koran contradict itself?
You've made it quite clear that you do not....Who said i am worried about you ?
Dear brother... in your anger and hate you seem to miss the point... I don't need an explaination of the verse... I know what it means... you, however, can't see past your self to realize that you have proven my point. Anyone who reads a Bible verse can get it wrong .... the same way you thought I was wrong about my interpretation of the Koran....you can't just look at the Bible and think you know what you are talking about.Although i explained this many times before ,but i'll do it again. and hopefully the last
To whom are you directing this?
I'll guess it's me.
First.... I don't assume it's a contradiction.
Second.... I've asked dozens of Muslims.
So.... no, you're wrong on both accounts.
Hmmmm.... is this the "official" Muslim way of clearing things up?
Again... it's not a contradiction (clear enough yet?) and every Muslim I've ever spoken to told me that I must refer to the teachings of your faith (the Hadith if I remember correctly) to correctly understand a passage in the Koran. [/quran]
I can't just read any line in the Koran out of context or otherwise and assume I know what it means.... correct?
