Which religions do / do not have any decrees on / against masturbation?

Beats me.

Ah, that is very interesting, thanks a lot. In my own little crossover world of stoicism, tantra, buddhism and bdsm, with a touch of nofap, this makes a whole lot of sense.

I haven't read a lot of ancient stoic scriptures (and so many are lost!), but from what I gathered, it seems to me like they were rather sparse on detailed instructions, and rather preferred to outline the ideas and principles. Did they ever outright condemn any act, in and of itself?

The Stoics mostly taught a form of virtue ethics, so no act was condemnable in and of itself, at least on paper. They were more concerned with why you committed an act than what act you committed.

In practice, plenty of individual Stoics argued that certain actions could never arise from a place of virtue, although there's quite a bit of disagreement about which acts these include.

Since Stoicism highlights the virtue of responsibility and fulfilling one's social duties, there are a lot of actions that might be seen as inherently violating one's obligations and these are often condemned because of that.

There's quite a bit of variety in Stoic teachings, so it's often divided into the eras of early Stoicism, middle Stoicism, late Stoicism, Neo-Stoicism, and Modern Stoicism. Each of these eras have their own defining differences.

Musonius Rufus, for instance, condemned all forms of sexual pleasure unless they were for the express purpose of procreation. However, he's a late Stoic and directly contradicting early Stoicism with that condemnation. The founders of Stoicism (Zeno and his pupil Chrysippus) were pretty supportive of homosexuality and casual sex to an extent that even their pagan contemporaries thought they were a little too progressive.

Personally, the only late Stoic that I've read that I generally approve of is Epictetus, although the late Stoics tend to be the most quoted. Marcus Aurelius was a late Stoic and quotes from him are ubiquitous these days. He did condemn several actions, many of which I don't really see why he was so upset over.

I have heard the excessive masturbation in adolescence can lead to schizophrenia due to excessive loss of zinc from the body.
I don't know if this is knowledge came about through scientific study however.
Total nonsense! Simply playing with yourself does not cause any health problems for either males or females! Where do people get this stuff?

Hindus do not have anything on it. Actually, there is no time for it. In youth one is learning, in middle age one is taking care of a household, in old age one is advising young ones. One is not supposed to waver from the tasks. Where is the time for masturbation?

While bathing?

Let's see... when young and learning... while in middle age while taking care of the household... as well as in old age when advising the young ones. People make time for what's important.

It's interesting how Christianity has set its face against it, There doesn't seem to be anything against it in the Bible. The Onan story involves a completely different commandment.

I'm thinking it's related to their general dislike of sex. (OK, OK, not all Christians.)

Without judgment, I would like to create a bit of a map, so I might be able to figure out some potential correlations.

In my own syncretic version of Gnosticism, which blends Mandaeism with some of the practical teachings of Mohamed and a healthy dose of libertinism, it is generally healthy and perfectly permissible. Indeed, insofar as procreation is how the Demiurge brings and traps human spirits in his material world, avoiding procreation but nevertheless indulging one's natural sexual desires through masturbation is a positive thing to do. Challenging through transgression what I believe is the Demiurge's prohibition of it is another plus.

I remember some report saying India is one of the highest pornography consumers in the world. Even to have a session time on a website, it's got to be significant.

Going by what you are saying, it seems like a family activity like going to the cinema and getting some ice cream. ;)

While bathing you have mantras to chant with folded hands.

"Gange Ca Yamune Caiva Godaavari Sarasvati l
Narmade Sindhu Kaaveri Jalesmin Sannidhim Kuru ll"

O Holy Rivers Ganga and Yamuna and also Godavari and Saraswati,
Narmada, Sindhu and Kaveri, Please be Present in this Water (and make it Holy).
