I got kicked out of the garden, ended up here. Something about an apple

Trying to find my way back to said garden. Seems like plenty of people know the way, but it's all a bit confusing, frankly...

And sometimes the GPS leads one into an unfriendly environment.

Have you never heard the stories of people, following GPS directions winding up on a RR track or a back road during a blizzard etc.?

    Me have experience.

Plan routes in advance using Googled Maps.
Check with friends for route advice
(Never again take Leasers Road near Kepmton PA.)
Use a GPS designed to keep Mr Van on roads approved for trucks.
(US northeastern states have many car only roads, eg, NY, CT.)
Have a back-up GPS in case Mr Garmin fails.
Have a paper atlas in case all those fail.

A friend of mine got a job doing door to door van deliveries. Ended up in the middle of a ploughed field in the dark and had to be towed out.

Me too. Traveling at night towards Maryland wondering why the road was winding with sharp curves with some pretty fast downhill brakes don't fail me now moments. Were trying to get to Cumberland Maryland to visit friends. We could see the lights of the town, below us, but couldn't find the road to get there. Wound up spending the night in a hotel further on. Next day we realized we had driven through the Allegheny mountains.

Would'a been a nice trip in daylight.
(I wish I had engine braking on Mr Van.)

That hasn't happened to me so much since GPS tech has been integrated into smartphones. Back when GPS tech was newer and we had those separate GPS guides (the brand I had was TomTom), I had a mishap the first time I tried to drive in downtown San Francisco. It kept telling me "turn left," and we would come up to the street and it was a one-way right turn only street! Keep driving, come up to the next street - "turn left" - one way right turn only again! This happened 4 or 5 times. :tearsofjoy: It was quite comical, although probably frustrating for anyone driving behind me at the time LOL.

Little did I know at the time that there is a reason no local in SF is insane enough to drive a car around town. :D:joycat:

"back to said garden" stirred up ancient memories of an innocent time:

Got to get back to the land and set my soul free
We are stardust, we are golden We are billion year old carbon
And we got to get ourselves back to the garden
