Hell as a place of burning and torment, has no legitimate foundation in the Bible.
The
Bible itself clearly states, “the dead are
aware of nothing / conscious of nothing / know nothing at all.” — Ecclesiastes 9:5; the dead go “back to the ground.....
(their) thoughts perish.” — Psalms 146:3-4; compare Genesis 3:19.
The Bible further states that
everyone (reading Ecclesiastes 9:10), goes to hell when they die.....
“Whatsoever thy hand is able to do, do it earnestly: for neither work, nor reason, nor wisdom, nor knowledge shall be
in hell, whither thou art hastening.” It applies to all.
(So don’t read it! LOL!!)
Please note the different renderings on the Biblehub website:
Ecclesiastes 9:10 Whatever your hand finds to do, do it with all your might, for in the realm of the dead, where you are going, there is neither working nor planning nor knowledge nor wisdom..
Notice, Hell is simply rendered the grave in most versions.
Peter said that even Jesus, at his death, went to “hell”, ie., the grave, for 3 days before his resurrection. (Jesus was in Hell, He just wasn’t “left” there.) — Acts of the Apostles 2:30-31; compare the prophecy at Psalms 16:10).
Christendom has been scaring people
for centuries with this nonsense, trying to control the masses with fear!
Any future life prospects only come in the Resurrection (John 5:28-29), which happens “in the Last Day.” — John 6:44
Seeing that you made mentioning of
John 5:28-29, you don't really believe there are people laying in some grave, hole in the earth.
Had you back up to verse 25 --"Verily, verily,
I say unto you, The hour is coming, and now is, when the dead shall hear the voice of the Son of God: and they that hear shall live"
Question --- What exactly is that hour that Jesus is in reference to ?
Question --- Who exactly is the dead ?
Answer ---- The dead are those people who are Spiritually dead, are in Spiritual darkness of not believing in God or Christ Jesus, They are Spiritually dead. Walking in Spiritual darkness.
Now as for John 5:28-29, You do realize, that there is no one laying in some hole in the ground grave.
Ecclesiastes 12:7--"Then shall the dust return to the earth as it was: and the spirit shall return unto God who gave it"
Now as to where does the spirit go to, Have you not read, where Christ Jesus spoke about the great gulf fix in the book of
Luke 16:26.
That those who die, can not pass back here to us, Nor can we who are alive pass to those who have died. For there is a great gulf fix between us and them.
You do realize that back in the old testament days, the grave had a hold on people, But now after Jesus has come and died and resurrection, that now the grave has no hold over people, That Jesus defeated the grave, That no one is laying in a grave a hole in the ground. But after dieing, they haved pass over into the great gulf fix.
"O death, where is your sting ? O grave, Where is your victory?
The sting of death is sin, and the strength of sin is the law
But thanks be to God, which gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ"
1st Corinthians 15:55-57.
Therefore we have victory over the grave, that the grave no longer holds us captive in it's power to hold.
Question ---- Who is death, What is his name?
Question --- O grave where is your victory.
Christ Jesus defeated the grave at his death and Resurrection.1st Cor 15:55-57.
That no one after dieing are not laying in any grave, The only thing that is in the grave is a dead body corpse rotting away.
Now back to John 5:28-29.
Now who do you suppose Jesus is talking about in Verse 28--"Marvel not at this, for the hour is coming, in the which all that are in the graves shall hear his voice"
Notice that Jesus said ( Marvel not at this )
Now why do you suppose Jesus would say
( Marvel not at this ? )
All because there is no one in the graves except a dead body corps. That's returning back to the earth from where it was taken from. Seeing that Jesus defeated the power of the grave, that the grave no longer holds anyone in it.
The grave in this instance represents the Spiritual dead. People who do not believe in God. They are Spiritually dead. Of having no belief in God or Christ Jesus. They are in Spiritual darkness.
Jesus also said ( For the hour is coming )
Question --- What hour is this, According to the book of Revelation ?
Jesus also said Verse 28-29 ( In the which all that are in the graves shall hear his voice, (And shall come forth )
The grave represents people who are Spiritually dead and who are in Spiritual darkness. Of not believing in God or Christ Jesus.
Revelation 20:14--"And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death"
Question --- Who is death, what is his name? According to the book of Revelation and the book of Hebrews.
Question -- When does the second death take place, According to the book of Revelation ?
Answer -- The second death takes place, after the thousand years are expired, Satan shall be loosed from his prison, And the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, Where the beast and the false prophet are"
Revelation 20:7-10. This being the second death.
Question -- Who exactly is the beast and false prophet.
Answer -- The beast and the false prophet, is Satan himself masquerading as a true prophet.
To deceive people into believing that he is a true prophet. The beast is Satan also, who comes like a roaring lion walks about, seeking whom he may devour. 1st Peter 5:8.
The second death takes place at the Great White Throne Judgement of God's.
Revelation 20:11-15.
