I do not wish spiders to accidentally get caught in my bedding and bite me.

That happened to me a few nights ago. I woke up with a big red itchy spider bite on my neck... :( Luckily, I don't think it is serious.

What puzzles me is how a spider survived in my bed with the multitude of cats that co-inhabit it...

As remarked, in the UK we don't tend to have anything lethal unless it has escaped from someone's collection, and that is generally quite rare. Such that my attitude might change if the circumstances were different. The smaller spiders tend to get moved to where they can exist without being trapped in the bath or I'll leave an object dangling for them to climb out via. The larger ones get removed to the garden or the neighbour's garden.

You should have taken its crown and made yourself queen of all wasps, you fool.
Haha. I once saw a pair of wasps mating, late one October day. Must be quite a rare sight. The male seemed to have a kind of grasping device on the end of his abdomen to grip the queen. She was buzzing, but very feebly, as if pretending to make an (extremely half-hearted) attempt to escape. It was strangely touching. I've felt a bit kinder towards queen wasps ever since.
