making correction is the same as repentence--God does not hold it against one. Its the ones who outright refuse to make correction who you should be worried about.
Nonsense. Correction is NOT the same as repentance and I'm pretty sure we've been all over this before
Look, Billy is punching his younger brother. His mother tells him to behave. Billy continues to punch. His mother tells him to stop, this time in a louder voice. Billy continues to punch. Now mom gets up and grabs a belt whereupon Billy "corrects" his bad behavior.
Has Billy repented?
Of course not!!! They only thing Billy did was change his mind. So its SILLY to say correction is the sames as repentance, just as it is SILLY to say your Organization repented because they changed their mind about an issue.
In order to be repentant they must first acknowledge they were wrong. I'm looking at the quotes in your Watchtower, and it is full of
new perception and discernment without ANY acknowledgment there prior perception or discernment was
wrong.
After the acknowledgment of wrongdoing, one must
apologize for it. This shows concern for any hurt that may have been caused. This apology is not something you whisper into the air to the aggrieved party but should be
published to the Congregation.
Billy was punching his younger brother because he thought he broke his toy. Later dad comes home with a new toy, apologizing to Billy for breaking it earlier that morning. Billy now has a new perception and discernment about what occurred to his toy, but that doesn't correct his prior wrong actions against his brother. Again correction does NOT equal repentance. He owes his brother an apology.
They should not only apologize, but
ask forgiveness. This from God and any aggrieved party.
NOW repentance can come. This is where, after acknowledging they were wrong, apologizing and asking forgiveness, assurance is made that you have turned away from the former behavior and you'll do your best to make sure it won't happen again.
3 So watch yourselves. “If your brother or sister sins against you, rebuke them; and if they repent, forgive them. Luke 17
8 Produce fruit in keeping with repentance. Matthew 3
19 Repent, then, and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped out, that times of refreshing may come from the Lord, Acts 3
Without repentance we remain in our sin and we cannot demand contrition, apologies and forgiveness from others if we refuse to offer it ourselves. That just makes one a hypocrite.
