I love these threads!

And I love the Gathering. I like old and older stuff by the Gathering but Anneke's new stuff with Aqua de Annique is superb as well. I love Anneke's versality. She was able to transition from metal to music with more of a shoegazer/coffee house type feel, so easily. Here's a couple songs for your listening pleasure (or displeasure...take your pick).

Just lovely...

Three that always get my attention, no matter how much I change . . .

YouTube - Simon and Garfunkel - The Boxer

YouTube - Sinead O'Connor & the Chieftains- The Foggy Dew

And "Into the Mystic" by Van Morrison, which I can't find on YouTube.

The Foggy Dew is a great song, especially with the Chieftains arrangement.

Have you ever heard this one:
YouTube - Óró sé do bheatha 'bhaile

or with Sinead,
YouTube - Sinéad O' Connor-Oro, Se Do Bheatha 'Bhaile (Live)

edit: the title in the link is Oro se do bheatha bhaile.

I don't know why this didn't post before, but:

My current obsession is "Viva La Vida" by Coldplay. I'm not a huge fan of theirs, but that song is breathtaking to me.

An oldie but goodie is "Maggie May" by Rod Stewart. I can't get tired of that song.

Beautiful. Thanks for the links.

Here's a few more of my favorites:

YouTube - Siúil A Rún - Clannad

YouTube - Luke Kelly Raglan Road

Irish folk music was the soundtrack for my childhood.

The music at our wedding ceremony was performed by a Celtic folk band. Our processional was O'Carolan's Concerto.

Oh yeah? Well, I had a bagpiper walk my wife in and walk us out. :D

I prefer the roughness of the original, meself. Still, I can't deny that this is a great rendition. Bono is always gold, and the Corrs ain't bad, either.
