But is was much harder for the Irish to come here illegally. They had the Atlantic to cross. The Mexicans have a large frontier border to deal with, even with the desert problems or the Rio Grande. This "problem" is as old as the nation itself. It used to be the Irish, now it's the Mexicans.
Somehow, we not only survived, but thrived.
We agree, so far.Immigration needs to be changed to allow the otherwise peaceful people to come, but kick the asses out and keep out the criminal element as much as possible.
I agree. There are many who want to come here legally. They want the American Dream without looking over their shoulder. They have put everything on the line to obey the law. They deserve our first attention to come in.Isn't the whole purpose of having borders to keep people out? I mean, we don't want to end up like Europe, do we? We'd have to change our name to the United Countries of the Americas or something like that.
But seriously, the INS (or whatever it's called these days) needs a complete overhaul.
I think we're deporting the wrong group of people.zippythepinhead said:If you are caught a second time you face a firing squad. I may sound tough, but tough is what we need tempered with compassion to get through this crisis.
Call me a compassionate conservative toward illegal criminals who rape and pillage the land.I think we're deporting the wrong group of people.
Tempered with compassion?
I suppose conservatives of such caliber would be the experts on raping and pillaging land and it's inhabitants. People are coming here illegally out of desperation and you're advocating shooting them? Please spare me your "compassion."Call me a compassionate conservative toward illegal criminals who rape and pillage the land.
What part of "illegal" do people not understand?
Cool, I just found an excuse to go break any law I wish.At one point it was illegal to not follow Jim Crow laws. Protesters, including Mister King, purposely broke these laws. The fact something exists on the books is no reason to abide by it.

Actually, America is a very easy country to legally immigrate to. Sure it may take awhile, but even those who aren't legal citizens can legally be here.It takes years to get into the States, and lots of savings.
It's estimated that there are far more illegal Canadian immigrants than Mexican. For many, I suspect it's nothing more than racism. I myself though believe that every illegal immigrant should be deported, and presented the legal methods of immigration, provided the immigrant is eligible. But is was much harder for the Irish to come here illegally.
