Should Biden Pardon Trump?

Thinking ahead to the day the Orange Death Cloud clears over Washington and Biden is president. There are already investigations going on into Trump for many crimes, and they have his previously denied tax returns in hand. Assuming, which is likely safe to do, they will find punishable criminal activities, should Biden pardon the criminal Trump like Ford pardoned Nixon for his far lesser crimes, because he just wanted to move ahead and not deal with the past?

Should Biden do that too, when the day of Trump's reckoning arrives shortly after he gets booted from office? Would it be good for America, or bad for a former president to have to serve prison time for crimes committed before he took office? Or should he be allowed to end his days in a federal prison? Will the orange prison suit go better with Trump's face than the red tie?

That's what I thought too. No way he should pardon him. That would be ridiculous.

Nixon was pardoned to get him out of office. Now if Trump and Pence were to resign leaving Pelosi in charge, sure. It would be worth it.

No. And neither should Ford have pardoned Nixon. It's long past time that when politicians do the crime then they too do they time.

He would have to be far more of a saint than I give him credit for.

He shouldn't be pardoned. He should have been locked up before the presidency. We could have avoided this nightmare and the people who allowed it to happen.

I doubt Pence would resign. We'd have to content with a president who hates women, queers, and those things not Christian. Amd whats worse, we'd have a president who proudly labels himself, but not as an American. He's a Christian, a Conservative, and Republican "in that order." None of that includes American. A shameful thing for president, in my opinion, to state your biases long before you even acknowledge yourself as a citizen of the nation.

Won't happen because it can't happen. 1. The pres can't pardon someone for a state crime. Only the governor of the state can.
    2. You can't pardon an indicted president.
Trump is going to jail when he leaves office - and he knows it.

Depends on what Southern District of New York decides to move forward with, but generally whatever they have enough evidence on regarding his business and financial dealings.

How do you get that from what I said? We the public don't know what's precisely on the table. Grand jury proceedings are secret so what exactly he's to be charged with has not been made publicly known.

Charge? Charges. Everything the dems could have brought up in the indictment. And probably the charges they did bring up. He was acquitted by the Senate but the Senate isn't a court so that might not count as double jeopardy.
So, campaign finance, emolument clause, obstruction of justice, fraud, tax fraud, corruption, sexual harassment and probably a long list of other charges he is currently immune to.
