Same Sex Marriage

Peace

Quran & Sunnah
Does Islam explictly teach in official divine sources that same sex marriage is sin and prohibited?

Yes.

What happens if a man and women do not have children (family); does that make the marriage sinful or wrong in some sense according to Islam?

Not at all.

Is homosexual behavior and/or marriage unlawful in countries ruled by an Islamic government?

Yes.

Are you aware that creatures apart from humans does not follow the male and female senario that you posted in regards to reproduction?

How? Would you give me examples?

LOL... but have you read the OT too? Have you read the life of Solomon in the book of Ecclesiastes? Did Abraham, Issac, or Jacob have multiple wives? Any Mormon Christians out there who would like to comment?
Right - all the more reason to say that the verse Peace quoted shouldn't be interpreted to mean that God's only approved mode of living is male-female pairs.

Do you mind posting the sources from the Quran or other divine sources stating that same sex marriage is prohited.

In regards to creatures pro-creating apart from the male and female scenario, there are quite a few. My son is in an animal behavior class. One example that comes to mind is the worm.

Asexual Reproduction

Asexual reproduction involves one parent. As a result, the offspring tend to have the same genotype and phenotype; they lack variation.
It is advantageous in a constant environment because a large number of offspring can be produced in a short time.
Examples:

Flatworms can divide into 2 halves; each half grows into a separate organism.
Cnidarians undergo budding where a new individual grows from and then breaks off of the parent individual.
Echinoderms can be cut to form new individuals.
Insects- parthenogenesis (unfertilized egg develops)

In the Quran, Allah tells us that everything He created are in pairs. Allah says: “And all things We have created by pairs, that haply ye may reflect” (Az-Zariyat: 49).
Of course what is meant by pairs is male and female, pairs of different kind.

Univerally marriage is known to be between a man and a woman. In Islam marriage is not only for sexual enjoyment but also for the establishment of a family on hygienic and safe foundations.

And why on earth would non-Muslims care about this?

Can the coyness. It doesn't become you.

If you're not going to give a very good reason why my personal life is relevant to this discussion, then leave it alone.

I will as you requested. But somehow you always give me a good chuckle which is a good thing. And I don't mean it in a disrespectful way. By your avatar and titles, I think you appreciate a good chuckle now and then.

What does the Bible say about whether Christians should force non-Christians to adhere to Christian doctrine?

If you don't want to be a Christian then don't go to Church or do anything Christians do. No one can force anyone to be a Christian anymore than one can force anyone to believe in God or Jesus. Your actions and your beliefs are your own as well as any consequences that come with the decisions you make or don't make.

No, but you can deny us equal rights. Can and do.

great point, plenty of creatures are hermaphrodites, even some humans, so you cant say god created every creature to be with a male and female

9-10 is not talking about becoming Christian, he's talking about being compelled to follow "Christian doctrine" (at least, one version of it) when he's not Christian. Do you see that?

The fact is that our culture is so oriented towards Christian privilege that many Christians don't even see it for what it is. It just seems normal to them.

They've also never had their rights squashed in most cases so being selfish is no skin off their back. Remeber, its their right to deny others rights. Luckily the Gay community is repectful or we'd see the smoke clouds of LDS churches burning from over here in Australia.

Ah! So you're in favour of legalizing same-sex marriage under civil law, then? Great!

I'm not sure that the Christians who don't see it are being selfish, really. I see it as more of a lack of perception and true understanding of the issues faced by nonbelievers who are aware of the unequal structures.

Those who do see what they're doing is selfish, those who don't are just ignorant.

I am a Catholic and gay, so I can try my best to speak from a perspective that we can all understand. The 10 commandments don't state anything about homosexuality being wrong. Neither does Christ. My lover is also Christian and we are married by our standards. We have been before God Almighty in prayer to ask His blessings on us and our union. When infidelity is concerned it was seen as adultery by both of us. Personally I would like a legal union so that certain rights are given to us. But on a moral and spiritual level, I'm already married and have no loss of sleep as to whether the church or state agrees.

Same Sex Marriage:

I want to hear and discuss different views in regards to same sex marriage. I would like to hear from all religious and secular views. As a Christian, the Scripture teaches that all sex outside of marriage is sin. The Apostle Paul tells us if we have no self-control as a single Christian, then we should marry. An obedient Christian is called to remain celibate until they are married. For the heterosexual or homosexual Christians, they are to remain celibate until they are married. So, what are your views in regards to same sex marriage? I have not made a conclusion either way; therefore, I want to hear all sincere views.

I think it is perfectly fine for anyone to get married to anyone else. If that's what a couple wants to do then they should do it. Equally I think it's perfectly fine for anyone to have sex with anyone else providing it's legal. Again, if that's what a couple want to do then go and do it.

I really enjoy having sex. Sex is brilliant. The thought of not doing it until I get married because a book said so is something I say no to. NO!
