Republicans outraged over a Sikh praying at the RNC

Feel at home where? Certainly not within myself. I've looked into Libertarianism, and it doesn't really fit me, although I do like some of their ideas more than I do the Democrats or Republicans.
Oh....I was referring to the demonization you suffer as a "Marxist socialist".
We have that too!

Maybe I jumped the gun on that one. True, we're talking specifically about "one intolerant voice," but I do see this same kind of thinking pretty often among evangelical Christians. And it is specifically for this reason that I am wanting more and more all the time to distance myself from them.

Evandelical Christians are not the whole of the Republican party. They often get more press, but they are not every last Republican.

Question Everything
This is something else. Conservative Protestant Christians are outraged that a Sikh would be allowed to offer prayers at the RNC. They're also miffed that Romney is a Mormon, and indicated that they think he shouldn't be allowed to pray there, either. They think too many different gods, false gods, mind you, are being invocated there. The last quote of this piece is just epic, "I'm not saying people from different religions can't vote Republican, but what this really is is a syncretism that is kind of seeping under the door like a gas." To me, this is the conservative mindset. Subjugate people who don't believe like you, act like you, think like you. Any thoughts?

This is NOT the conservative mindset. Obviously someone had to vote Romney in during the primaries, so obviously the MAJORITY of the Republican party are not afraid of other faiths (like the Mormon faith)...

Evandelical Christians are not the whole of the Republican party. They often get more press, but they are not every last Republican.

exactly, I guess I should read everyone else's responses first :D

What a load of steaming crap. Republicans ended slavery, Duh!

Look at governors in this nation and see who has the most minorities.

The bottom line here is the Dem's have nothing to offer but the same old failed policies.

Moderates don't care about social issues, they want jobs and an improved economy.

Mitt Romney is prepared to deliver, while Obama has nothing but excuses.

Yes, the only chance he has to keep his job is to demonise the opposition.

Can you feel the hate?

Ah yes, this sounds very like your optimism in 2008, when moderates loved Sarah Palin and McCain was definitely going to win. :D

Not happening.

ROTFFLMAO

OK Alceste, back then you where telling me Obama and company where going to be the fiscal party, remember?

This joker has spent more money than all the other presidents combined.

The thing is, it has been a total failure.

Romney introduced his five point plan in Cincy today.

I can't wait for the debates.

What the Republicans have going for them is I don't believe the Dem's will turn out in the numbers they did back in 08.

They where energized four years ago, this time they will be holding their nose when they pull the lever for the anointed one.

No way they will ever vote for a Republican, so they might just stay home.

They won't be motivated by love for Obama, but they will be motivated by hate for Romney. Most people understand that more tax cuts for the rich is a catastrophic idea.

The best thing going for the Pubs is that voters are forgetting Dubya, but remembering Obama.

Yes, because a government elected by people motivated by hate is exactly what we need...

Any particular reason you totally ignored the substance of my comment? They will reject him because he wants more tax cuts for the rich, paid for by the middle class. Most people realize that is a catastrophically bad plan.

The fact is that electing a president is, more often than not, choosing the lesser of two evils. Conservatives have this ridiculous portrayal of liberals, as if they worship Obama like some sort of perfect messiah. The reality is, however, is simply about picking the one who will do the least amount of damage, especially when it comes to our rights, freedoms and equality.
