What happened in the 15 minutes prior to this and why were the police called in the first place?
Should have removed her from the area before removing her son. Of course if they had removed her from the area, there'd be no need to remove her son.
Should the mother have handled the situation differently?
The officer were probably attempting to look out for the well-being of the child. Their method didn't work out so well.
Probably not a good idea to commit criminal activity while holding a child in your arms.
Yes, I support freedom. These pigs need to be locked up.
From Wikipedia:It's not clear to me why they were removing her baby from her arms. To handcuff her?
Pigs? You're a lot younger than I am. I wasn't aware that that word was still being used for police. It's what they were called when I was a teen.
Your avatar takes me back to my youth and the Nixon - Kent State years, when that term was popularized. Do you know where it comes from? I'm pretty sure it was because of gas masks:
I don't think of the American police as pigs any more, but I don't trust them, either. However, since I don't live in the States any longer, I don't need to.
I also distrust the local (Mexican) police, but in a different way. I'm not worried about them planting evidence on me or brutalizing me for not being sufficiently deferential as I would be in the States, but I would never call them or invite them into my home, and I hide my wallet if pulled over. They're paid too little, and will steal your possessions if you give them access to them.
Isn't it fascinating how it is perfectly OK to dehumanize this group of human beings simply because they are in law enforcement. From Wikipedia:
"Pig
This derogatory term was frequently used during the 19th century, disappeared for a while, but reappeared during the 20th and 21st century. It became frequently used again during the 1960s and 1970s in the underground and anti-establishment culture. Now prevalent in many English-speaking countries.[32] It is also used in anti-authority punk, goth, metalhead, biker, mobster and hip-hop circles. Oz magazine showed a picture of a pig dressed as a policeman on a front cover[33] and the term inspired "pig cops" in the game Duke Nukem 3D."
Exactly what the police should have determined before they went into bouncer mode. What happened in the 15 minutes prior to this and why were the police called in the first place?
Some cops are pigs. Not all, of course.Isn't it fascinating how it is perfectly OK to dehumanize this group of human beings simply because they are in law enforcement.
Interesting question. Why do you think that matters?Should have removed her from the area before removing her son. Of course if they had removed her from the area, there'd be no need to remove her son.
Should the mother have handled the situation differently?
No, it did not. Which is why I would like ro discuss if and how the officers should have handled it differently. The officer were probably attempting to look out for the well-being of the child. Their method didn't work out so well.
Does the activity committed relate to the force used?Probably not a good idea to commit criminal activity while holding a child in your arms.
I am not so sure the baby is capable of doing what is demanded.I don't know what I am seeing in the video.
If you are surrounded by cops, do what they demand. Do NOT resist. Leave that to your lawyer.
Unless there is a clear and very good legal reason for resisting arrest. Just go with it.

They're not being dehumanized, they're being disparaged. They're disparaged because they're so frequently heavy handed, imperious, impatient and violent.Isn't it fascinating how it is perfectly OK to dehumanize this group of human beings simply because they are in law enforcement.
I am not completely sure. My understanding is that rhe woman chose to sit on the floor when there were no seats. I imagine she was asked to not sit where she chose and she refused to comply. Police were then called and I imagine she refused to comply with them as well. But I do not have the exact details. What set of facts would justify this behavior? What happened in the 15 minutes prior to this and why were the police called in the first place?
I think that some people do it as a coping mechanism.Isn't it fascinating how it is perfectly OK to dehumanize this group of human beings simply because they are in law enforcement.
Living in California and being raised in the midwest and living in Arizona for a while, I can tell you that there are different policing methods. No, it did not. Which is why I would like ro discuss if and how the officers should have handled it differently.
