My grandmother and father died these past few days.

My maternal grandmother died this past Friday. My father passed away yesterday morning while with my mom. They were arranging the funeral down in Florida.

No other way to express it, but this really ******* sucks. You always logically accept that people you love will die, but you never truly expect it.

I'm leaving on an early morning flight back to the United States from Korea tomorrow morning. My professors thought it would be best to go home now. They said I can turn my final in via email when I get home.

Thats really rough to put it mildly. Ouch!

Take good care of yourself and don't fight your feelings. I'm guessing it will come in waves. We'll be here if/when you need us just to chat for some support or take a break. If you need a time out away from RF to spend with family and friends, we'll understand. Just be around people who care about you and will support you. Your going to need that right now. :)

I'm not there in person and I can't make the pain go away but I hope this picture expresses how much I would want to give you a hug right now. I hope you like kittens.

Oh gosh Starry, please hang in there, don't hurt yourself; you know fully well these bodies we inhabit are temporary. But for the sake of not sounding callous, i hope their last moments were surrounded by family members.

So sorry to hear of your losses, Starry! Please feel free to PM me if it would help you to talk with someone about what you're going through, or about your grandmother and father. May your memories of them bring you some consolation!

I'm so sorry for your losses. *hugs* I totally empathise - I lost my maternal grandmother last month and though I knew it was coming her death still really shocked me. Their love for you and your family is the best legacy they can leave behind. Stay strong; your mother will need you.

I don't know what I can say but...

I've been there! I've done it! It takes years to recuperate but my best advice, well, I'll try not to say it that way, is to have a good support network and find an "out". What do you like to do? I'm in to the arts so I try and write and/or draw my feelings out.

When my grandmother passed away, that's what I did in between the cries and the dead-walking stages. But as long as you're in the safe place, with people you care for, and ways to give you an out, the emotions will come like a roller coaster and I think you'll get through it.

Take care.
