Well, the immigrants keep coming -over a million per year. So it can't stop.

...What we can do is start preparing for more mental illness, as that's what the future holds as statistics show.

Mental Illness Is On the Rise in the U.S. for a Frustrating Reason

The psychiatric community has known about the increase in depression and mental illness for over 30 years.. Back then it was attributed to overcrowding and economic disappointment.

America has ALWAYS based its future on MORE people, more cars, more buildings and highways.. Expansion forever.. That's myopic at this point.

...Because that's the natural result of a prosperous society. And the million plus immigrants per year are only a fraction of those who want to come here.

If more is so bad, then why do so many people want to migrate here? Shouldn't they be running in the opposite direction?

This elephant in the room seems to fly in the face of the theory of overcrowding as a source of depression. Because otherwise, we should be seeing a mass exodus not mass immigration to the United States.

...Sorry, it just doesn't add up, Sooda.

The elephant in the room is that Christian Capitalism results in so much mental illness and depression.

Seriously.
You think that prosperity results in mental illnesses and depression?
Maybe you just don't know what prosperity means?

Good grief.. The US isn't the only country experiencing these changes and challenges.

No, I think mental illness and depression are not related to prosperity or overcrowding at all. Look at Robin Williams, and Anthony Bourdain.

I cannot help but notice.
Christians and Communists have a lot more in common than they do with socialists and democrats.

Probably the others that are experiencing similar things also have high percentage rates of contraceptive use and abortion.

...We should see.

Nevertheless,
what you posted was:

Tom

Meaning that the natural result of a prosperous society was MORE building's, More roads and more people, in response to Sooda suggesting that it was a bad methodology.

Sooda said it was a myopic approach. She's wrong. It's the natural result of a prosperous society. It's not an approach at all, but a reaction.

I think dabbling in human reproduction equates to playing with fire -possibly literally. ;)

...But seriously, the effects can be something entirely unforseen. Reverse Eugenics, as described as the opposite of eugenics, is possibly something people have failed to acknowledge.

We could test the theory by gathering the nations where contraceptive use is highest, and then measure the rates of depression in relation to how long contraceptives have been readily available. Then compare this to places with low contraceptive use and their statistics involving depression.

No, my assertion was that those prone to higher education -the 'doers' of the world, from all colors and cultures, will be having less children... And that imbalance itself will offset the natural evolution of the human race. Potentially. Making us more prone to mental illness as a whole.

I call it "reverse eugenics" and this hypothesis was created by my own conscience. If it's fantastical, and not based in reality, then I would accept that -but as a concept, it does seem viable.

...Something worth investigating IMO.
Unless you have scientific evidence to back that up, it's just your opinion and not founded on fact.
