What do you think of her, the founder of Planned Parenthood?

Do you have objections to any of the controversial statements she's made?

What statements? And please do not use sources that take quotes out of context. It is always wisest to find a source that includes the entire quote. Almost anyone can be made to look evil if a single sentence that they spoke sometime in their lives is used against them. Most of the attacks against Sanger that I am aware of depend upon quote mines.

I'm very eager in my desire to share the quotes, but I fear it could open a can of worms, and I worry it could be impulsive, inappropriate, and offensive to do so

I was just more curious to hear what people think of this very significant, very influential figure in American history

Odds are that they are taken out of context then. If you can't find a source that is more than a sentence long I would forget it.

I understand, that is a very conservative Catholic website, but they seem to provide the sources by which they got the statements from.

but I am skeptical of it, and not so sure about whether she did indeed make such statements.

I saw a documentary that accuses her of such things

In the late 19th and early 20th C, many educated progressives had a favourable view of eugenics. It was considered a rational and enlightened position to hold based on science.

I know very little about Margaret Sanger, but it wouldn't be too surprising if she held some views on this subject that offend modern sensibilities.

Lying is saying something with an intent to deceive. That is a lying site. let's take the first quote of Sanger:

"But for my view, I believe that there should be no more babies."

That came from an interview, here is the quote with a bit more context to it:

    • John Parsons: But Mrs. Slee in this country having babies is the only thing left which is both unrationed and untaxed, do you think we really ought to stop?
    • Margaret Sanger: Well I suppose a subject like that is really so personal that it is entirely up to the parents to decide, but from my view, I believe there should be no more babies in starving countries for the next ten years.
    Margaret Sanger - Wikiquote

It reads quite differently when read in context. When one sees a person quote mining one must remember that by their standards the Bible says "There is no God" twelve times. Does that mean the Bible actually says that? In the same sense Sanger clearly did not mean what your source implied that she meant.

Our founding fathers in the US consisted of elitists, sexist, racists, slave owners, etc. Does the truth of that statement reflect poorly on the USA of today? If not you might ant to examine why you think it might with PP.

Ain't nobody perfect, particularly in the cruel harsh light of those
judgmental types who always lurk in the future. So like the founders,
Sanger strikes me as having left a positive mark upon society.
What didn't work was cast aside, & what succeeded was kept.
    (I support Planned Parenthood....& Planned Non-Breeding too.)

I'm one of those people that should not breed, and as far as I'm concerned should be sterilized.

Not only am I lacking the ability to properly raise children and provide for them, I have a lot of bad qualities and defects that could be passed on. I would not wish the suffering I've gone through on my worst enemy.

Anyone who raises cattle, knows that only the strongest and healthiest should breed.

I think Sanger, who my church demonizes, had some very rational points, but the way she sometimes worded it, is very offensive to some modern sensibilities.

    I like you.

    Edit....
There goes both of our reputations here, eh.

Looking at the comments, without knowing this person at all, it's obvious that at least some of the quotes are deliberately manipulated. Now, if someone were to deliberately lie about a person's view to make them more disgusting what do you think? Is the TFP being manipulated to do this or are they deliberately doing it, lying for what they think is a good cause...

I think she had some moxie and guts.
As to whatever quotes are attributed to her (correct or mined) I think it's always important to keep in mind that it's a bad idea to expect a person in the past who was progressive for their time to hold opinions that are going to exactly line up with modern sensibilities. Because you are just begging to be let down at that point.
That's just a very unfair and unreasonable position to come from.

A lot of people that I idolised and even kind of still idolise are from the past. And all of them have said or done something that was fine in their (respective) time but offensive in ours.
And I guess that's just how reality is.
