Hi Deeje. Just wondering if what you wrote wasn’t already said during the Great Depression or/and the two world wars? Or maybe after the tsunami and the attack on the world trade centre.
It seems that whenever these kinds of events occur they are interpreted as the end’ .
Anything different to you about now and those times? I have my own thoughts but I’m interested to know how you view past calamities compared to now? Thanks and I hope you’re safe and well. God Bless.
Jesus gave us a 'fingerprint' in a series of global (not local) events that was begin with unprecedented warfare. The Great War of 1914 (later called the First World War for obvious reasons) was the first war in history to involve every nation on earth....it was followed by the pandemic of the Spanish Flu, which took more lives than the war did. Food shortages followed as the war effort exhausted food supplies and drastically cut any nation's ability to produce it. Earthquakes would also increase, causing much damage and loss of life.
Betrayal would be the order of the day as people selfishly looked after themselves. False prophets and false Christs would come on the scene and fool a lot of people, leading them off in different directions.
Love would disappear from the world as a "me first" mentality took hold crushing the neighborly spirit that once was common, but is not so common now. Neighborhoods are becoming places where people remain anonymous. Even before lockdown, many didn't venture out because they entertained themselves at home via the internet....some of the entertainment was not of the sort that promotes good morals.
An increase of lawlessness would also mark this period....causing a lot of mistrust. Endurance would be required if one was to maintain their faith. (Matthew 24:13) So for us, 1914 was the beginning of this time period and none of the events that have happened since are a surprise. They are part of the 'fingerprint'. It is pointless speculating about exactly when the "end" will come because Jesus already said that 'no one knew the day or the hour but the Father'.....but having said that, he also told us to "keep on the watch" because the end would take many by surprise. (Matthew 24:42-44)
We are expecting a "great tribulation" to break out (Matthew 24:21) but the Bible does not say exactly what triggers it.....perhaps it is the world economy crashing to levels never before seen. Or perhaps it is the collapse of religion which the Bible predicts as well.
We have to understand that all the world's economies are tied in together and the nations of the world right now are broke. Where is the money coming from to pay for all these workers who are now out of a job? These nations were facing hard economic times even before this pandemic hit....
Perhaps they will be looking at who has the wealth.....so that they can sustain life at some level. Religions have the money and are falling out of popularity as the world becomes more secular.....its a wait and see for us....
