No. Why do you think that the Declaration of Right - which condemned the arming of Catholics in the same breath that it condemned the disarming of Protestants - is relevant to the Second Amendment?
That is part of the history which the well read white landowners were familiar. And it did not condemn arming Catholics it condemned stripping protestants of the right and at the same time arming Catholics. Clever twist you tried there though.

The drafters and ratifiers of the constitution and the bill of rights were familiar with then recent history. They were also familiar with many philosophers of the day. This familiarity shaped the U.S. constitution (and the articles of confederation).

About slavery... specifically the fallout from the Somerset decision.

Why do you think the Revolution happened when it did?

After Somerset, the writing was on the wall that slavery would be abolished in the British Empire, but it wasn't happening quickly.

In the American colonies, one faction thought that they could protect slavery if the left the Empire, while another faction thought they could speed up abolition if they left the Empire.
What utter pap. You see everything through the eyes of slavery, socialist revisionist history 101.

The Declaration of Independence says exactly what it means. Britain was Tyrannical, Americans had virtually no representation in Parliament, They felt they were being overly taxed, the occupying army had free reign over the people, requisitioning and never paying for property they used or took. They would search people and homes with no restraint, and people were thrown in jail with no trials or legal representation. Free speech and freedom of the press were obliterated.

Many petitions were sent to Britain regarding this treatment, they don´t mention slavery.

The Declaration of Independence doesn´t mention slavery, it was all about the abuses of Britain directed at Americans.

The Bill of Rights Clearly reflect the abuses that Britain subjected Americans to, and corrected them for the new country.

The treatment of America by Britain was the cause of the Revolution, slavery had nothing to do with it.

Yeah, you can really teach me about American history, can you video your next lecture and send it to me ?

I hope it is as funny as those two beer swilling young Canadians of the 70´s and 80ś, they were a hoot.

I know your take on American history is too.

Maryland, no doubt. The Catholic state

Me neither. That was a development since the Heller decision separated the idea of keeping and bearing arms from the idea of a well-regulated militia.
The Heller decision ensured that the RIGHT of the PEOPLE to keep and bear arms was guaranteed.

The problem is that some people think that the intent was that only militia members have firearms. If that was the case, it would have said so.

Militiaś of the day could come into existence in a very short time depending upon the threat. There was no list of members, who showed up were put to use.

Well regulated wasn´t talking about government regulations, it was talking about regulated in the field, strategy and tactics. These were virtually always defensive tactics, fairly easy to implement.

The militias could be drawn from anyone, that is why the right of the people is used, and not the right of militia members. The people means all the people.

Heller made this clear, it is the right of all the people.

Isn't the American people travelers from European countries like, Germany, Belgium, Great britain, Holand, Because the original America people are the native Americas also known as Indian Americans,
So your Nationalism for White Americans does sound a bit wrong to me.

White Americans, what are you talking about ? In your fumbling foreign way are you trying to paint me as a racist because I have high regard for my country ?

Stupid try.

Black Americans, Japanese Americans, Hispanic Americans and Native Americans have died for America, and their blood is just as red as mine. When I talk about Americans I mean ALL Americans.

Yep, the original people here were the native Americans, who came here from Asia. However, there is some indication that Europeans were here extremely early as well.

You must have a point, what is it ?

That America isn't as great as you want it to be

Nope. I read how they let their governments and the EU micromanage their lives, and they just roll along with it.

There has been civil unrest in France for 38 weeks but we hear very little about it here in the UK.

Hate laws have been implemented with no right of appeal and the police have become brutal in response to the protests but the people will not back down.

No wonder the EU is trying to form a European army.

Slavery.?
Yes, there were kinds of slavery.
I don't know what your folks said and wrote about it all, but we Brits (most sadly) were subjecting American seamen to a form of slavery if nobody and nothing else.
And also, that was what led to the war of 1812-14.
Impressing another Nation's seamen and forcing them to serve in Brit vessels and take Brit punishments sure is slavery by any other definition.

Kangaroo Feathers

Yea, it is written in the Book of Cyril...
If guns protected your country from a tyrannical government, it wouldn't have concentration camps and secret prisons.
Excellent point. Ever noticed the "but we need our gunz to stop govmint tyranny!" types are often the exact same people cheering on government tyranny? The Venn Diagram is practically a circle.

how do you know this ?
It was through this that the colonists were allowed to be armed in the first place and through this that they were not successfully disarmed.

It is common knowledge that our Constitution was heavily influenced by the English bill of rights.
