It doesn't matter what faith you follow or why you follow it. What I want to know is what has GOD done for you to believe in Him?

What if God gave a certain created humanoid species no reason whatsoever for them to believe in Him, none at all other than their own existence and free will? Amazingly for some of that species that was enough. Not only was that enough but they absolutely loved Him for it.

They knew nothing of God, they had no evidence other than what they could see, feel, smell, taste, and touch but in everything they sensed they saw God in some way. They ignored what others said about Him because they knew in their hearts what He must really be like. And they smiled a lot.

I'm not sure there is God.....if there is, he/it seems pretty apathetic or distant. I'm reluctant to believe any one person's version of God (especially ancient accounts), what more could they know than me?

We are born and then we die. My advice is to be kind, give to others and have a good time along the way. :)

First of all, why post if you're going to avoid answering the question I've asked. Second of all, what's the point you're trying to make with such a fictitious species?

I love you! Frubals for the wording of your topic.

My take on God is the image presented to me as a concept of God. It is a formlessness that is the foundation of being (form). It requires God to do nothing.

Wow! Quite a lot of anger projected there? Are you sure I deserved that?

Okay, I'll make it extremely simple for you. An infant smiles and laughs when I tickle his feet. To me, this proves God exists because if not there would be no happiness at all.

He has consoled me when I was sad, lifted me when I was down, strengthened me when I was weak... He has loved me no matter what darkness I fall into :D

How is it that you saw anger there? Did I YELL? Did I use profanity or insults? I don't think you know me well enough to judge my writing so well. You are seeing things that aren't there. Is that why you see God so easily in feet tickling?

How did He do that? What makes you not give yourself the credit for changing your own viewpoint of a situation and dealing with it?

Abraham Lincoln once said, "I can see how someone could look down at the earth and not believe in a God but I cannot see how anyone can look at the sky and still not believe." I think that's an interesting quote.

The question was, "What's God done to make you believe in him?"

Well, first of all, let me define God as I see him/her/it. To me, God is the energy that infuses all of life...our awareness, our consciousness. I don't see God as some big daddy in the sky. I see God as the source of life. Additionally, I see that energy/source in all things and people, so my view of God is quite different from the traditional one.

As to what God has done to make me believe, mainly He has given me life. I am alive with energy and I see that energy in others as well. I also see it in the awesome mountains, the breakers as they crash along the shore at the beach, the butterfly, the bee, flowers, song, and on and on. I also see God in my granddaughter's smile, my friend's caring hug, my husband's annoyance at some things, people on the street both near and far away.

To me to experience life fully is to know God. To see and taste and feel and hear and smell is to know God. My belief is affirmed by quantum physics and some of the recent scientific data that has come out recently in this area. However, I am not very well versed on the science of quantum physics, just enough to take pleasure in some of the experiments that I've read about.

a totally man made concept to explain the unexplainable. i think we are unable to live in a world without explanation so a conspiracy theory is better than no theory at all. the god of the gaps, for example when we didnt know what thunder and lightening was we credited it to thor ,

I am not aware of anything that it has done to make me believe in it and that is largely why I do not.

I doubt I'd have a larger regret than if it has and I, for whatever reason, missed it.

What He has done for me to believe is give me senses and a mind. My senses and my mind see God in everything, much like Maggie 2's post above.

    Nothing.

God to me is an attempt to explain the unknown while simultaneously pandering to the most solipsistic of impulses. All questions solved + Eternal life and bliss all wrapped up in one. What a deal.

If it seems too good to be true...

God has given me life. He has given me my family. God has blessed me many times when I have been in danger of accident. God has comforted me in times of sadness. One thing that stands out in my mind is while I was serving a mission in the Philippines. My copmanion and I had fasted and prayed that we could find some new people to teach. The next day we were walking down a road and heard someone yell out 'Elders.' Our title as missionaries is 'Elder (Insert last name here).' We found it odd that someone who was not a member of the church would know to refer to us as elders. So we wentover and talked to the lady. Apperently she hadn't said 'Elders' but had just called out. We set an appointment with her and taught her the lessons. THis was a direct answer to our fasting and prayer.

Another example is when we were studying our 'Preach My Gospel' guide and for one week the things we learned each day was directly applicable to that day. IN one instance we were walking down the road past a house. A scripture we had read earlier that day popped into my head. Then I felt that we should go to the house and talk to the people there. I was about to tell my companion but just before I did he spoke up and said that he felt we needed to go to that house.

Those are just a couple of my experiences. I could cite some more if you wish.

Greetings kadzbiz. For me to believe, God gave God by overcoming the last step in dissolution of estrangement.
