So what "particular demographic" does Portland have that makes this article not an exaggeration? What makes you believe this piece is an accurate portrayal of what's going down there, unless all the media exaggerations about armed violence in the US?
Portland (aka Portlandia) is ultra-liberal (US political sense of the word).
You must judge the article for yourself.
I say that exaggeration is an inference that many news consumers
get from how it's presented, ie, the Spotlight Fallacy. This doesn't
mean that any given article itself exaggerates what's reported.
Do you have anything to state or discuss, or just questions?

Has anybody noticed that tonight's RNC is all about how dangerous and riotous America is right now, and how Joe Biden must somehow bear responsibility for that? Have you also noticed that the dangerous and riotous America has had Donald J. Trump as its President for 3 years and 8 months? Who gets to own this? I don't think it's Biden, folks.
It's bigger than all of them. But neither Trump nor Biden's
hands are clean. Remember that the latter pushed the
94 Crime Bill, which is one of the worst things to happen
to black folk in that century.
