Feds leaving Portland

sun rise

The world is on fire

Apparently the Feds are following the Kim Jung Un method of negotiation - saying one thing doing another according to recent reports.

As to violence, there have been reports from various places about right wing types showing up and destroying things to try to pin the blame on the left. Given that they're attacking with cars etc, I find those charges credible. So before I am willing to assign blame, I want proof positive about who caused the destruction and their motivation. False flag attacks are well known and go back at least to this; Gleiwitz incident - Wikipedia

Malcom X???? Hardly a representative of those with more melanin.
'More melanin' jesus christ. And yes, no less than MLK. How much about civil rights history have you read on?
No wonder you seem to promote the radical left-wing narrative at the expense of admitting the reality that the protestors did damage to innocent people's businesses.
And you seem to promote the radical right wing message of anything other than right wing media is fake news. Shame.
But those of us who live here know better.

Surprise surprise, once the federal officers weren't around to incite violence, the protests were quite calm

That's changing....
Riot declared in Portland for second night in row
Excerpted....
Portland, Oregon — A riot was again declared by authorities Sunday night in Portland when protesters marched to a police union building, blocked a road and set dumpster fires as officers work to quell nightly unrest in Oregon's largest city. The protest was over almost as soon as it began outside the Portland Police Association building - the same building where protesters were dispersed after a fire was started inside the offices the night before.

Demonstrators Sunday night marched to the building from a park a few blocks away. The road was blocked with fencing, and flames were seen rising from dumpsters in the middle of the street.

The Portland Police Association is a labor union that represents members of the Portland Police Bureau.

Police and state troopers forced a couple of hundred protesters away from the building, reports CBS Portland affiliate KOIN-TV.

While demonstrators were being dispersed, commercial-grade fireworks were thrown at officers, injuring two, police said. The department released photos of the officers' injuries, including a photo of a face covering that "partially melted" from the firework. The officers were treated at the scene.

Groups of people broke off, KOIN said. Some gathered in Kenton Park, which provoked another announcement from police that, "This is still a riot."

:
Three officers were hurt, including two who were taken to a hospital, during the efforts to clear the crowd of several hundred people outside the union building late Saturday. The two hospitalized officers have since been released. Nine people were arrested during the protest, police said in a statement.

Police arrested 24 people during demonstrations overnight Friday after, they said, people defied orders to disperse and threw rocks, frozen or hard-boiled eggs and commercial-grade fireworks at officers.

Some demonstrators filled pool noodles with nails and placed them in the road, causing extensive damage to a patrol vehicle, police said. Oregon State Police worked with Portland officers to clear the protesters.

Real freedom loving American patriots would have brandished their constitutionally-guaranteed firearms instead.

Not surprising. The city and state police were still putting peaceful protesters in hospitals before the feds arrived. The feds just stepped it up. So a calm before back to the business of reforming the police is expected. Hopefully Ted Wheeler takes it to heart this time, and stops okaying gassing people or critically injuring them with 'non-lethal weaponry,' or allowing police to make false reports (like the paint spattered magazines from the cops own guns claimed, or the leaf blowers and tent spikes owned by the homeless camp inhabitants).

Hard to feel very sorry for police right now when they've been brutalizing people for over two months now. The only good ones have stepped down.

Tis best to consider that innocent cops & innocent
protesters are both victimized by this violence.

We do like our firearms, but this doesn't mean
that we use them on every occasion.
There have been armed protests in several major American cities only months ago, which strongly suggests that patriotic, freedom loving Americans really do enjoy displaying their guns wherever they can.

I guess that means that most of us aren't true Ameristanians.
Or perhaps you have a strange & inaccurate view of us.

It occurs to me that I should warn of the spotlight fallacy.
Just because the news media cover something with great
attention & frequency doesn't mean that it's common in
reality. You ferriners see a different picture from mine.

Would you say that the riots and looting that people claim are happening all over the US are also an exaggeration by the news media?

But you say they are not an exaggeration by the news media. Unlike the armed protests that happened just months ago.
Do I have that correct?
Tis not that the media are exaggerating anything,
but rather that their focus has the effect of readers
& viewers inferring an exaggerated view of how
widespread it is.
We've seen no such violence where I live, or in environs.
