so they (the western) are stupid when they called it SUICIDE MISSION ?
Because it sells newspapers, and it weeds out those who would be scared to do it and who would want to go. What the people are saying is it will be like the person has died, because they will not be able to come back to Earth.
But it is clearly not suicide. I think, even with the article posted in the OP, that it would still be permitted.
The only time it would not be permitted, I think, is if there was to be nothing for them to live with. So, if one Muslim goes to Mars, and only has a limited amount of oxygen or food before he dies in a few days or weeks, and that is certain, then
that is prohibited, but it
is permitted to go to live there. It must just be that it is not going into something that is guaranteed to kill you, and soon.
So, I think there is no real contradiction between the fatwa and Muslims going to Mars.
I don't understand why some non-Muslims are having difficulty understanding it; I think it is very clear from the fatwa that space travel for Muslims is not "banned".
