I haven't been listening to much death or black lately. Been listening to a good amount of Progressive metal though, and whatever genre TOOL and Deftones fall under, if they can even be categorized. Also a healthy dose of Motorhead.

I've been listening to a lot of Doom Metal as of late. From the likes of, Candlemass, Pentagram, Cathedral, Black Sabbath, EYEHATEGOD (more Sludge/Stoner Metal), Down & Electric Wizard. Also, you can't go wrong with Type O Negative.

If anyone's into Thrash Metal at all, check out Skeletonwitch. A lot of Thrash/Black Metal in their music. Amazing stuff.

Being not near Sweden makes it ok to be Black (metal) lol.

Remember the whole Swedish death metal vs. Norwegian black metal thingo? Good times for those at Wacken open air + various other metal festivals.

I'm kind of selective about my black/death metal. I don't care for just simply fast and hard and I can only take so much cookie monster vocals. That said my two favorites are Opeth and Sepultura.

I too am fond of the old Mudvayne. The new Mudvayne though, at first I thought it was a new Hellyeah album.
