I listen to more black metal than death metal, but I like them both.

My favorite death metal bands are pretty much limited to Death and Amon Amarth, but I like most melodeath sometimes.

As for black metal, it's all good. Immortal, Emperor, Darkthrone, Burzum (well, just filosofem, but that album was good enough), Gorgoroth.

Comedy option: Impaled Northern Moonforest

My friend saw Slayer just the other day with the orignal members, and he said one of the things that was so refreshing about the show was how they sound the same today as they did 10 years ago. Much resepct for them!!!

... well it's true. I love the older stuff too. those bands were a big inspiration for metal today. I miss promoting. I used to bring death metal bands to tulsa. oh and don't ever go see anal blast. the vocalist is disgusting. speaking of disgusting vocalist...if you haven't already seen GWAR you need to. it's a must.

I saw Megadeth once back in 88, they opened for Dio. It was the worst show I've ever seen. Mustaine was so wasted he couldn't stand and had to hold onto the mike stand to keep from falling over. All he did was scream and spit on the crowd. I only put up with it so I could see Dio who was spectacular! Egypt baby, the chains are on!

What is the difference between Death Metal and Black Metal?
The main difference is that Black metal tends to be very anti-religious, pro-satan.

Some of my favorites in the genre:
Amon Amarth
Behemoth
Dimmu Borgir
Sepultura
And the band who started it all
Slayer

What is the difference between Death Metal and Black Metal?
black metal is more satanic, anti christian and most of the bands are from Europe. read about the church burnings that happened over there. members of black metal bands did some of those. most of them like to wear the corpse paint too like in the pic of abbath zephyr posted.
black metal bands:
hecate enthroned
dimmu borgir
gorgoroth
marduk
dark throne
bathory
Death metal on the other had talks more about death, gore, or anything really.
death metal bands:
morbid angel
aborted
decrepit birth
disgorge
nile
suffocation
cattle decapitation

look em up. you will hear the difference.

Emperor
Immortal
Marduk

Old Thrash
Slayer
Kreator
Sodom

Gota love the glammers and old schoolers too, Maiden, Dio, Priest, Sabbath, Zepplin ......... its all good :)

yep and I'm also a huge morbid angel fan. gateways to annihilation is one of the best death metal albums out there. heard of broken hope? they are a really awesome older death metal band. morbid angel, suffocation, cannibal corpse, and carcass era. btw I just saw carcass earlier this year and they were amazing. one of the best metal shows I've been to. Impaled was pretty amazing live also

Shouldn't this be in the music section, along with arts? I would have reported it to a mod just to see what they thought and have them make the appropriate decision whether to move it or not. Instead of just spamming the thread with the notion that it might be and questioning. But then I got this message.
Note: This is ONLY to be used to report spam, advertising messages, and problematic (harassment, fighting, or rude) posts.

Clearly this thread is none of these.
So clearly I am stuck with posting in the thread, or PM'ing a mod.

So anyway, as a Pagan I really like extreme metal music. As they often sing about Pagan themes.
Anyone here like Cirith Gorgor(Black Metal, not Death Metal band)? They have quite the epic stuff.
YouTube - Cirith Gorgor - Shadows Over Isengard

Also, for Death Metal, what this thread is titled about, how about Evocation?
YouTube - Evocation - Feed the Fire - Video
They are also very good.

Nah i havn't heard of them, youtube it is. CC is touring Oz in Spetember :)

Since this thread is too merry, im going to explain what i hate. I hate hardcore, watered down death metal for the masses with average solos and very out of time finger tapping a must. Its a joke, one band, suicide silence makes Nile, the band they poorly ripped off look worse. Its all the rage here in Oz and it makes me sick, i can't even listen to metal radio without hearing it.

Well theres my non-religious rant for the day :)
