Crystals?

Anyone here read crystals and crystal balls? If so, what techniques do you use. And how successful have you been?

I use crystals a lot in my healing. Most of it is introspective, and has been very useful.
I have actually been looking into crystals for use in healing and in other things. I find the study of such things to be very interesting. :)

Holly, two books I can recommend to help in your study are Crystal User's Handbook and The Crystal Bible, both by Judy Hall. They're both great, very informative - the Handbook gives a general look into the healing aspect (plus has such things as crystals for each astrological sign, chakras etc.), and the Bible has an A-Z of crystals, with details on all aspects, including both physical and emotional healing.

I recently started incorporating the healing aspect of crystals into my jewelry making...I specialise in 'chakra jewelry' - bracelets, earrings, necklaces etc. - each designed to help heal/align specific chakra(s). Not only are they pretty, but useful too. ;)

Is there a crystal that works more for you? Like for me, amethyst reflects my energy more than any other crystal.

Different crystals work for different situations...I've found that I'm drawn to a particular one (or more), depending on my need for it. I have an amethyst pendant I haven't worn in years, and it came in quite handy recently (as a protection stone). I am very drawn to tiger eye and hematite, generally speaking. I've recently become rather attached to garnet, too. It's my birth stone, but I've never really had much affinity for it until the last few weeks.

Healing crystals, eh? Well first of all....ah, forget it. I think it's best if I just stay away from the New Age forum. :)

heh, sorry to dissapoint you Spinkles but I use crystals (mostly just rocks in general) to an extent. ;)
From what I have heard the Cherokee shamans traditionally used Quartz crystals.
I personally don't believe in the idea that each type of crystal has a specific use, from what I have experienced with them each individual has its own power. Mostly I just use my pretty rocks to jog me out of dry spells when dreaming. (this may be psycosematic but it works) I've had some that were simply too strong and gave me wacky jumbles of dreams too many to remember, others that bring long lucid dreams, and some that consistantly give nightmares.
Sometimes one just wants to go with me for the day, and I ususally have at least one rock in my pocket.
Mostly I just think they are pretty.

That tears it--I'm starting a thread in the debates section. :)

For me, fluorite works best. It 'resounds' quite well with my energy.

There is a Spider that uses rose quartz, and only rose quartz. It places a group of them around the entrance to its hole and attaches its web to them. They are so receptive of vibration that when an insect walks over the crystals, it sends massive amounts of vibration down the web into the hole telling the spider exactly where the insect is. And by this, the spider knows exactly where and when to attack and kill the insect. There is more to crystals than we see.

Crystal therapy and crystal balls are two different animals, aren't they? One is about using the "vibrational energy" of the crystal to affect health/mood/intuition/etc and the other is about using the reflective quality of crystal to scry. Aren't we talking about two separate things here?

I tried scrying with a crystal ball a few times when I was in high school. I sat in a darkened room with a light source (candle) behind me and my crystal ball before me and relaxed my gaze, just as directed. What did I see? The ball seemed to fill with smoke, starting as a wisp in the center and spinning out to fill more and more space. But then nothing happened after that. The smoke dissipated and I was just looking at reflections in a crystal ball. Was I inept at scrying or was I just imagining the smoke? I leave it to you to decide. Still have the thing on my altar after all these years, but it's just a pretty bauble to me.

As for healing with the energies of crystals, I can't get past the fact that rubies and sapphires are supposed to have very different energies, even tho they are chemically the same stone. But when I make jewelry for friends, I take the stones' attributes into account anyway. It can't hurt. And one can't underestimate the power of symbolism.

Yes, and I see how I could have implied otherwise. I apologize. (I do know of some who read crystals though.)

I don't own any crystal balls (although I have oodles of tumbled stones and clusters, and a couple of 'slabs' (tiger eye, which I'd love to polish one day)), and I've never tried scrying. Well...I tell a lie, I did get a scrying wheel with a book and gemstones a few years ago when I joined a bookclub (it was like $2 lol who could refuse?), but I didn't do more than play with it a couple of times.

The crystal ball is very hard, it takes a very intuitive and passive mind to work well. It basically calls for deep meditation focused upon the ball, (but the absence of it). I have not tried reading a person with it, but have done some work with the spirits with it. If anything, it is a wonderful meditation exercise.

Meditation...that's what I figured. I would like to try it one day. :)
