I'll get whatever is offered, not having any options other than refusal, but I don't know the effectiveness of any particular one, or how long it might last in preventing infection. I typically don't respond negatively to most medicines so I'm not that bothered. I don't appear to ever have had any symptoms of the virus, and at my age (75) that would probably be unusual if I didn't, so I can probably assume that I haven't had it yet. I will still take the same precautions regardless of if and when I get vaccinated. I'm not exactly panicking as to when I get it.

I should be due to get it in March, but nobody has got in touch yet to give me a date. Probably it will be the Oxford one. I sort of hope it is, to show some support for my alma mater, though it could also be the BioNTech one.
In the UK we will all get just one shot first, to make the vaccine go further and then follow up with another in 3 months.
I've already had the virus so I should have some immunity, but that was back in March last year and I do know some people are getting it a second time (e.g. my nephew). We now have the new Kent variant floating around, so maybe previous immunity is not perfect against that.
I'm anxious to get vaccinated asap - and I think anyone who refuses it is a moron.

I've heard that comment nowhere else. Are you sure it wasn't just a poor nurse/doctor who injected you?This vaccine isn't like normal ones. I've never had issues with them in the past, but I hear it's quite common for folks to have issues with extra pain for days after the injection in regards to this one. There's also a strange occurrence where one gets flu like symptoms a week after the injection which seems pretty typical.
The lady who gave me my shot was actually a pro. She did a good job! I don't blame her for it.

Same here. My old dad (93) had the BioNTech one 2 weeks ago and had no trouble.
But possibly one reacts more to it if one has a more vigorous immune system. I imagine that could be the case, though I don't know if it is true in this case.
I'm going to try all of them so I can recommend to my friends which one is the best.
Seriously though, I'll be getting one, but the brand doesn't matter to me. I'll await my turn patiently, and will likely place myself among the last, because I'm not around people often. Aside from load-out, I spend most of my work days alone in a truck, and when I'm not working, I'm at home save going out to forage for food.

STOP PRESS: just got an email from a couple in their 70s who have just had the jab and both have quite badly sore arms 24hrs later.
Sore arms??! I'm out.

Hmmm... Everything I've heard about this vaccine has been running around the rumor mill from those who've gotten the shot inside the hospital, and I can confirm the rumors that have been circulating here. Maybe things might be different in the future, but for now, it's not a super pleasant shot to get. It's been about 48 hours and I do feel quite a lot better now!
I'm gonna attempt workingo ut a little later on today. I'll know for sure then.
I certainly don't think of myself as a moron, but I am very reticent to have a vaccine that took all of a few months to prepare, test, and deliver. Were it any other vaccine, for example, that had been through the rigorous testing we have all come to expect I would have no problem taking it, as I have with every other one I've had.
I am just incredibly sceptical of this one and will wait until further results come in until/if I have it.

These vaccines have ALL gone through EXACTLY the same rigorous testing as any other.
The reason they have been approved so fast is because (i) everybody dropped everything to work on them (normally these organisations have lots on the go at once) and (ii), very significantly, the approval authorities did something they never normally do, which is to monitor the data as it came in. Normally they don't have the resources to do that, so they ask the developers not to bother them until everything is completed and then they go through it, once it reaches the head of the queue for approval.
That is how it has been done so fast, not by taking short cuts in the trials. It is vital to understand that.
If you don't get the vaccine when you can, you risk causes someone, possibly even you, serious long term illness or death that could have been avoided.
