Derpy Donny Dollhands has petulant tantrum because Greenland isn't for sale

Kangaroo Feathers

Yea, it is written in the Book of Cyril...
But you missed the other point - this is how America acquired most of its territory anyway - by purchasing it from other countries. Florida was purchased from Spain. The Louisiana Territory was purchased from France. Technically, we even paid Mexico for the territories we acquired after the Mexican War. Alaska was purchased from the Russians.
With the consent of the relevant countries. Denmark doesn't want to sell Greenland, and made no suggestion it wanted to sell Greenland. Trump just unilaterally decided "Oh, I might buy *spins globe and randomly points* Greenland". That's what's ridiculous.

Well, yeah, that may be so, especially since we offered to buy Greenland in the past, but the offer was declined.

I don't know what Trump's thinking might have been in suddenly wanting to buy Greenland. However, as I said, it does have strategic importance from the viewpoint of US and Allied security perceptions. Denmark is an ally, and therefore Greenland is an ally.

One possible reason for the US to want to take direct control of Greenland is if there was some belief that Denmark may become unreliable or that Greenland might become vulnerable to being taken over by some potential rival power. Given that there have been rising tensions and the prospect of a renewed arms race with Russia and China, that may be where the idea is coming from. Trump never did seem to have much faith in the NATO alliance.

Another little sidenote about Greenland I remember from a brief description from the novel War and Remembrance. The Allies had a base in Greenland used as a refueling stop for aircraft. It was a very lonely, desolate place - with no entertainment and no recreation. All they had was a record player with one record - "In Der Fuhrer's Face," which they played over and over and over again.

Whether or not Greenland has real word strategic value to the US is rather beside the point. Denmark isn't selling, and gave no indication of wanting to sell. The point is that Trump thinks it's reasonable to demand sovereign, independent nations sell their internationally recognised territories, and then gets ****ty and derails diplomatic programs when he's told no.

Skanky Old Mongrel!
More like the people that lie and misrepresent what the President says.

Which only proves they themselves are dishonest and lack of morals completely.

President Trump has just appeared on British television, calling the Prime Minister of Denmark 'Nasty!'.

He then went on to rant about China, and he said 'I am the chosen one!' as he looked up at the sky.

This is honest. It happened.
:p

You want to make a mountain out of a mole hill here.

It's a mystery!

Possibly, I can't know that reason though, because I am not in U.S. Intelligence.

You just can't seem to keep up can ya.

Not with that many mental gymnastics.

Trolling does not equate to lying.

Oh so we've gone grom rescheduling to refusing now.

Gotta say that's some odd behavior there.

When's the last time you saw a therapist?

Nope but obviously over yours.

Nope we have petulant far left that cry about a polite tweet as being a temper tantrum.

Hilarious considering the OP reframed a polite tweet as a temper tantrum.

What does that mean about you?

Oh he is a brutish oaf.

But he is also hilarious.

I love the way he makes yall squirm!
Okay, you're clearly just a troll.

Enjoy continuing to waste your time.

Well..... there's a tiny plot of land at Herne Bay, Kent, England, that definitely isn't selling up to President Trump.
Any such idea would be completely absurd.
:p

What if he throws in a deluxe suite at any Trump hotel of your choice, with 24-hour maid service?

My Missus would throw it back at him, and she won't miss.
He'd definitely call her nasty, but he'd get Gravesend backchat that he never could have guessed at. :p

From the article.

"Denmark is a very special country with incredible people, but based on Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen’s comments, that she would have no interest in discussing the purchase of Greenland, I will be postponing our meeting scheduled in two weeks for another time," Trump tweeted. "The Prime Minister was able to save a great deal of expense and effort for both the United States and Denmark by being so direct. I thank her for that and look forward to rescheduling sometime in the future!"

Wow what a "temper tantrum".

:D
His first reaction was an ugly accusation .

Trump demeans anyone who gets in his way and yet is the first to whine when someone responds to him negatively.
