Derpy Donny Dollhands has petulant tantrum because Greenland isn't for sale

Kangaroo Feathers

Yea, it is written in the Book of Cyril...
Just as an aside, the idea of the U.S. purchasing Greenland is not as absurd as some people are implying. How do you think the U.S. got the Virgin Islands (and what country did we purchase them from)?

That said, I'm not entirely clear why Trump wants to purchase Greenland, although given rising tensions with Russia, it might have strategic importance.

Why does Denmark still want to keep it? Why would any European country in this day and age want to retain their overseas colonies - especially if they can't defend those colonies without outside help? (The Allies had to occupy Greenland and Iceland because Denmark folded up so quickly against the Nazis.)
Why does any country want to keep any of it's sovereign territories? Would it be silly to suggest America sell California to China?

Maybe Denmark should make an offer on Long Island. We'll see how Trump reacts.

...We should get mad at them if they do!

You don't know that.
Of course it was unnecessary to postpone. There was absolutely nothing preventing the visit going ahead, Trump just chose not to go. Even if you believe there is some political advantage to his choice, it was a free choice and so not necessary by definition.

Both leaders handled it responsible and with dignity. Its business after all not personal.
All the public statements have (so far) been fairly diplomatic. Trumps initial decision remains silly.

Yes, and either country can cancel or reschedule at anytime for any reason. Ots a free world after all.
Any of the three countries involved could have cancelled the visit. It would take the explicit agreement of them all to actually reschedule. You’ve still not explained why Trump would want to reschedule given his stated reason for “postponing” the visit.

No you are assuming that.
No, I actually read the related links so I had an idea what I was talking about; Statement from the Press Secretary Regarding President Donald J. Trump and First Lady Melania Trump’s Travel to Poland and Denmark | The White House (and only now do you realise why I referred to three countries :) ). There were multiple elements and reasons for the visit, none of which specifically related to the idea of buying Greenland, an idea that was only raised in the last couple of days. The idea that Denmark’s dismissal of the idea of selling Greenland rendered the visit pointless remains a lie.

It'd actually make sense for the U.S. to sell parts of California, Arizona, New Mexico and Texas to Mexico; this would lower the debt of America as well as favorably change the demographic composition of our nation.

You don't know that. Are you a member of U.S intelligence? There could be other reasons just not publicly known. You are assuming and biased at doing it as well.

Trumps initial decision remains silly.

Of course a biased person would.

You should try objectivity sometime.

I couldn't possible know that. I am not Trump, a member of U.S. intelligence, or close to Trump for him to confide in me his thiughts. All I could so is speculate and assumed like you.

The idea that Denmark’s dismissal of the idea of selling Greenland rendered the visit pointless remains a lie.

Glad you came to that realization. When did you decide to stop assuming otherwise?

Look, some straws! Quick, grasp them!

You seems so confident that this was just a brief postponement for some reason and would be quickly and easily rescheduled. I think you’ve just confirmed that you’ve nothing to base that positive outlook on.

Glad you came to that realization. When did you decide to stop assuming otherwise?
I never assumed it was. Trump’s announcement implied that it was. It was his lie.

Subtle, huh? I wonder how Trump and the trumpettes would act when they find out about all the brown people who live in Greenland?
The same poster has already suggested putting those people in reservations to build casinos on.
And they wonder why they get called out on the clear racism festering in their ranks.

G8ven that posters predilection for violent gun crime against the vulnerable, we should probably be thankful that was as bad as his suggestion was.
