What verifiable evidence is there that god exists?

Why will we invent a God: what is the need for a God in our lives?

The black hole in my life and spirit that swallows me up with addiction because of my need for a higher power to fill me up. Why do we destroy ourselves when we could live like the ancients did, cave men, eat drink have sex raise kids be happy? But then again they worshipped nature. Because they were a different kind of race, we have culture, we know more but we are evil and we destroy ourselves because of a need for direction and goals and a higher power.

I am of the opinion that the Biblical god is a human creation, I have not seen any evidence to suggest otherwise. If god really exists why does it hide away, instead of revealing itself to all humanity in a way that is indisputable?

I know right. God has never popped out of the clouds and said, "Hey, I'm up here!", so God makes things unnecessarily difficult.

What's the difference between a religionist and a theist?
Gosh...... that could be the intro for a joke. :)

Well, this is the first time that I have seen the word 'religionist' and so I'm guessing that a religionist will belong to a religion.

But a Theist who believes in an interested and involved God might not belong to a religion..... maybe?

But as you know, I never included the word Theist in my earlier post, so I don't know where you are going with all this.

I am wondering if you ever read or studied the Bible______
Because in Scripture God is Not hidden away and does reveal Himself.
Reveal Himself to those who sincerely want to know.
Those who are H.H.H. ( Honest, Humble and Hungry 'for spiritual things' )

Read it through and through-- many times. How on earth do you think I lost all faith in god(s)?

The bible, if read without being brainwashed first? Is an excellent tool to create atheists out of theists.

I don't know if you might think of this as a need in one's life, but the God of the Bible offers: everlasting life.
If we would like to live forever, then we need God in one's life.
Lots of people think they are immortal and live on after death. That is Not a Bible teaching.
Whereas, what the God of the Bible teaches is future 'resurrection' for the dead to live again.

As for 'we the living', there is a ' time of separating ' coming for those of us alive on Earth at this separating time.
People will be separated into one of two categories:
Either as figurative humble 'sheep', or as figurative haughty ' goats ' as found at Matthew 25:31-33,37,40.
The upright ones (sheep-like) can remain alive on Earth, and continue to live on Earth right into the start of Jesus' coming 1,000-year governmental rule over Earth when it begins.
Hmmm.

The way to survive as fully as ones genetic make allows us is to consult all sources of guidance, including God if one believes He exists. But be prepared that He may not answer because He is being reported and exposed.

OK....

My earlier post was only repeating the thread title.
I think that there is a God but I don't think that humans are special in the Universe in any way.
Of course humans are special in the universe in that they are able to communicate with God through intelligence to determine the full Reality.

I'd like to meet someone that actually believes in a man that lives in the clouds but I still haven't met one, still waiting.....and getting impatient.

And no, the flying spaghetti monster doesn't count, that's a weak parody religion (not even a funny one, I've seen better)

What does that mean?
We humans are the most successful species that ever existed as evidenced by the fact that we have colonised every environment on planet Earth through our intelligence that has created technologies for our comfort. So we are special, not just any other species. There is a reason for this. We surrendered to the Creator and He helped humanity to understand Nature and create our comfort through scientific endeavours.

I communicated with God to get where I am today.

A statement without evidence to support it. There might be other intelligent life forms on other planets who might be more intelligent than us humans.

Your so called communication with god is more likely to be what your mindset is telling you, but it isn't communicating with an external entity.

My dead mother visited me. I embraced her. Was that delusional?

JJ50,
It seems that your mind is a Tabula Rasa, as th Bible is concerned. God allows everyone to have their own apinions, but The Almighty God has given everyone His word to search out His will for all mankind. In a very short time Jesus will come to earth and judge e everyone according to what His Bible says. No one has any excuse for not reading and studying His word, because He says that He is going to destroy all who do not know Him and does not obey the lord Jesus, John 5:19-29, Acts 17:24-31, 2Thessalonians 1:2-12. 2Thessalonians 1:2-12.
The God that inspired these words to be written, is also the same God that Created the Heavens and the Earth, and ALL things thatare in them, Genesis 1:1, Revelation 4:11. This same God says that He is going to destroy ALL these fake gods, and also ALL who worship them, Jeremiah 10:10-16, Psalms 115:1-8.
This God says that His name is Jehovah, Psalms 83:18 KJV, and thatHe does not want people to worship Him for nothing, Isaiah 45:18,19. This, the only True God will give everlasting life to all who worship Him, follow His son, and give all who obey, endless life in a Paradise earth, not heaven as many believe, Revelation 21: 1-6, Psalms 115:16.
Why would a person not want to worship this God that makes these promises, and who wants the very best for His children???
Because many people do not want to believe in anything, because that leaves them the right to do anythinything that’s want to do, whenever they want to do it. This without regard for their neighbor!!!
Many people, over many years have tried to find something that would prove the Bible is not from The One True God, but have NEVER found even one thing in the Holy Scriptures that has proved to be inaccurate, even though the Bible was written over a period of almost 1,600 years, and having many Bible writers. This, in itself is an impossibility for men, but there are many things written in the Bible that NO human being knew, at the time of writing, such as the shape of the earth, Job 26:7,10, where it is said the earth hangs upon nothing, and Is circular, Isaiah 40:22, plus many things written in the Mosaic Law Covent, about Hygiene, cleanliness, which protected God’s Chosen people, which no one on earth knew about.
Only an Almighty, All knowing God could have had these things written and then protected His word throughout all generations, Psalms 12:6,7. The One True God, Jehovah, John 17:3, 1Corinthians 8:2-7, Ephesians 4:4-5. Agape!!!

what are you talking about? The flaws in the Bible are endless.

It is very immoral for a being to threaten people because he was incompetent.

I would say so, maybe you need some help, have a word with your doctor.
I spoke to Dr Sudhir Patel of Wigmore Medical Centre, Kent yesterday. He is no longer my doctor on account of the fact that he dismissed me from the Surgery's Practice List but he still advised me to keep taking my antipsychotic risperidone (and presumably anti-depressant sertraline) medications for my persistent delusional disorder - the risperidone was recently revised upwards to 6 mg daily (from 4 mg).
