would you kill?

I think that the OP's question tends to elicit answers that are actually for the question "what would it take for you to kill in good conscience?"
I suspect that in the heat of the moment, most people would actually kill for less, but would just regret it afterward.
My husband has said that if someone harmed one of our children, he would have to prison because he would kill the person.

I already have killed by having abortions..I am considered a murderer in my religion..And I in fact know that I am..I did it out of desperation and selfishness and fear..It has taken me years to believe I am forgiven and to stop self loathing and feeling like a worthless unlovable lowest of the low sub human being.And I know I will be held accountable..
I would never do that again..But I woudl kill in "good conscience" to defend my own life or that of any other human being needing my help against someone trying to take thier life who had no defense of thier own.
On that note to see my double sided brain?...I would not kill a woman to prevent her from having an abortion..First of all its ironic..Because the baby would die with her..Second of all I would be a hypocrite..3rd of all I dont believe its with malice or hatred that she does this.I might kidnap her and lock her up !!! LOL!!...Just kidden..

On a more serious note, I would prefer not to kill, but would hope that I would not hesitate to do so if the situation warranted it to defend myself, a loved one, or frankly any stranger in my presence that appeared to need the help.
I know for certain I would never kill for any religion, being a naturalist, and there are very few ideas or ideologies I would kill for (freedom, national defense and the like being exceptions.)

Most people would only kill directly for reasons of protecting their families or themselves, but how many people approve indirect killing, by supporting illegal wars like that in Iraq? A lot of people may not be pulling the trigger, but are killers none-the-less.

Depends entirely upon the situation.
If I feel me and/or mine are in danger, you better believe I will kill to protect them.

Fact is that many religions do not teach the alleged "Sanctity of Life" doctrine/dogma/belief.

Not to say that I have never been angry enough to think of killing someone, and at times actually planning their death, but I have never been angry enough to follow through with the plans.

There are all manner of reasons to take another's life.

I'm Christain, find no where in scripture where one cannot kill for self defense.
I've been in such situations and didn't kill & it worked out o.k. for me.
I'm well trained, very skilled with small arms, would shoot in an instant if need be.
Don't want to. Doubt the situation would ever come up now that I'm retired.
I'd like to think I could shoot to stop, I'm good enough to place a bullet where I want to.
But I sure don't want to.

And if I had the opportunity to say merely injure the person enough without killing them, (say if I owned a gun)...I'd take that option. I'm not sure I could live with myself If I killed someone, no matter the reason, to be honest. I just think the brain processes it all the same...you took another person's life, and even if it is justified, I think it would wreak havoc on a person's emotional state. That's just how I imagine it to be - hope to never be in such a situation!

I used to think that I was a pacifist and could never kill another human being. Then, I had kids and realized that I would do whatever it took to keep them safe.

The right to defend one's self is a basic human right.
How one exercises that right is a personal matter.
Heavy karmic attachments come with the killing of another human being.
There are as many reasons for and against the exercising of this right as there are souls.
i hope i would never have to be tested.
