Who Has Gotten Frubals From Jay???

Actually, I do not think of myself as at all 'grumpy', but I can certainly see why you and others might.

I don't have any idea why anyone would characterize you like this...

I love you, sweetheart.

Hey, it's all good, dude. I love you, too.

For the record, I've never received any frubals from you, and I have once been the recipient of your sharp critical wit.

The thing is, I see that as the Zen Master's stick hitting my side, getting me to sit up straight again and re-focus on what I'm perceiving and communicating. You're not the only one to do that (heck, I've been rather biting in a few of my posts, so realistically I shouldn't complain anyway), but I think you stand out because you don't discriminate in who you critique. You're also blunt, and some people appreciate that, and some don't.

Me? I totally respect blunt and to-the-point. Then again, I did live in New York City for about a year, so bluntness and a prompt reply is the definition of customer service out there, not a friendly smile. :D

What stood out the most for me, though, was not your "critiques", but your love of theatre. I sooooo wanted to start talking with you personally after the "Ask Jay Anything" thread some time ago once you gushed your appreciation for Giselle and Les Miserables (which I just saw again a couple weeks ago on the Muny Opera Stage). Since then, I have not been disappointed in the least. It's too bad you're a little misunderstood here, Jay, since I think you're such a gentleman.

Peace,
Mystic

Jay reminds me of a drill sargeant. I once had a boss like that. They can tear you to shreds----if you let them. And they rarely give compliments. Which is not a bad thing, because when they do, you know they really mean it.

So, while he does get under my skin sometimes, I do appreciate his intelligence, and I don't take lightly the frubal he gave me recently. I suspect he's a nice guy underneath his brusque exterior. ;)

I think this is one of the reasons Jay's frubals are so coveted and treasured. We know he's very intelligent and well read. But, along with that he has extremely high standards for excellence regarding information sharing...and the knowledge to hold you accountable if your comments do not come up to par with truth or common sense. So, to be fruballed or complimented by Jay is really worth something. It's almost like being praised by the toughest professor at college, it boosts your self esteem.

Now, as far as my 'grumpy' comments not being accurate concerning Jay....you people need to look that word up in a dictionary/thesaurus. And if you don't see a picture of Jay right next to the definition or words that are synonymous with grumpy, you can pelt me with a mass of tomatoes.

We still love ya though, Jay. :flirt:

Oooh, my dictionary is completely devoid of pictures! I love these odds! *reaches for tomatoes*

To be honest, I find the thread a bit embarrassing and disconcerting, and I'm honestly not at all sure where to go with it. What saddens me most are the comments by some who I truly appreciate yet who nevertheless feel slighted. For that I sincerely apologize.
I don't even know you and I anticipated this type of response.

Jay,

You know I love you.... you've been like a big brother to me over the past two years.... and we've exchanged frubals and comments personally over the time, but I wanted to make a public profession of my high regard for you. (No.... I'm not going to propose marriage.... maybe if I wasn't Catholic.... hehe)

If there is a heaven, I know you will be there with me... try not to make me look stupid in front of the "boss".... hehe.

In friendship,
S

I don't understand why someone would think that frubaling under his name or calling him sweetie would annoy Jay.

I do understand how this thread would be embarrassing to him, as it certainly would be to me. And it seems to me that the above speculations are thinly veiled insults. If one is seeking frubals from a person who values intelligence and integrity above all else, this doesn't seem like the way to go about it.

It's extremely arrogant for you to imply my motives or anyone else's are untruthful. This is an honest thread....and Jay seems to be handling it fine. You can stay out if you like. Thanks for your great input.
