WHat is Passover?

Wanted to know if you knew or not?

Not all sacrifices are for the purposes of sin atonement.

Passover is one good example of a sacrifice that was not made for the purpose of sin atonement.

So it is improper for you to insist that Jesus was both a sin atonement and the passover sacrifice.

I mean, it's improper for you to suggest that he was either of those things.

But it is also wildly improper to suggest that anything is both of those things.

Do I know why there's no need for an atonement?

Well, atonement is needed when there's a sin. Was there?
There was sin, but atonement wasn’t required until the giving of the Law, Tabernacle, Levitical priesthood and then God required atonement for sin for the Hebrews, God’s chosen people. Wasn’t that way for Abraham. How have your sins been atoned for since there is no temple or animal sacrifice for you?

So you agree that the Passover lamb was not an atonement sacrifice. So in what way was Jesus an atonement sacrifice, if he was supposedly a Passover lamb himself?

First of all, even when there was a Temple, not every sin needed a sacrifice. See Exodus 21:37, for example. Sacrifices are only for specific sorts of sins.
Second of all, atonement - even with a sacrifice - has always required a few things: Admitting your sin, regretting and accepting upon yourself not to do it again. This is what atonement was like in the past and how it is today.

Really, why?

That’s incorrect according to the law in Leviticus 16: Day of Atonement.
““This shall be a statute forever for you: In the seventh month, on the tenth day of the month, you shall afflict your souls, and do no work at all, whether a native of your own country or a stranger who dwells among you. For on that day the priest shall make atonement for you, to cleanse you, that you may be clean from all your sins before the LORD. It is a sabbath of solemn rest for you, and you shall afflict your souls. It is a statute forever.”
‭‭Leviticus‬ ‭16:29-31‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

If you're saying that the Pesach lamb is an archetype of Jesus, then Jesus cannot be a sin offering because the lamb is not a sin offering.
“But Christ came as High Priest of the good things to come, with the greater and more perfect tabernacle not made with hands, that is, not of this creation. Not with the blood of goats and calves, but with His own blood He entered the Most Holy Place once for all, having obtained eternal redemption. For if the blood of bulls and goats and the ashes of a heifer, sprinkling the unclean, sanctifies for the purifying of the flesh, how much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered Himself without spot to God, cleanse your conscience from dead works to serve the living God? And for this reason He is the Mediator of the new covenant, by means of death, for the redemption of the transgressions under the first covenant, that those who are called may receive the promise of the eternal inheritance.”
‭‭Hebrews‬ ‭9:11-15‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

Whoever wrote that doesn't understand the sacrificial system.

Nothing Harel13 said was wrong, especially in light of Leviticus 16.

You just don't understand it properly.

The Holy Spirit knows all about that
Nah. I'll explain what the author of Hebrews got wrong.

First of all, a descendant of David can't be High Priest. That's a role reserved for the descendants of Aharon.
Second of all, Jesus was wounded on the way to the crucifixion. Far from an unblemished sacrifice.

So this is the difference between what the Christians believe about the passover and the Jews then?
