65 years ago my 21 yr old friend dated a 15 yr old girl.
And the flack he got from mostly everybody!
Everybody knew better than those two.
The girl's parents refused to allow any marriage.
The Police kept interviewing her in attempts to prove a sex crime against her etc.
As soon as she reached 18yrs this couple married.
They still are. Great Grand-Parents now.
My friend is very poorly now and I can't get to speak with him, but his lovely wife (who wanted to be a 16yr old bride but got refused) still sends cards, etc.

Legislators need to think very very carefully before they rip up young relationships that can make the whole distance. And how many middle aged marriages mess up?

It's all a lottery.

There is at least here "statutory rape", sexual intercourse with a minor. I'm not sure how that relates to adult/child marriages.

I don't say that marriage should come with strings attached, it is just an observation that it is so. The state grants you joint tax filing and you agree to be responsible for each other and go through an expensive legal procedure when you want to end the contract.
In praxis that might lead to some difficulties. Say the (older/adult) husband gets into an accident. Now his (minor) wife has to access their joint account, has to pay bills and make contracts, in an extreme case even decide upon medical procedures. If you think she was major enough to agree into the contract, you'd better argue that she'd also automatically get legal adult status at marriage to enable her to fulfil her duties as a wife.

People reach mental maturity at different ages. Should we have a test for maturity? You have to pass for marriage (voting, driving, drinking, join the military)?

I think, there are many people who even at age 40 are not really mentally good to have a family, and at the same time, there certainly are some 15 or 16 years old teens who are very mature and responcible.

I just asked a question, which was quite a logical reaction to "how you phrased it"

IF you wanted to marry my little girl, if definitely would be any of my business. And Koran says "if you kill 1 human, you kill humanity". So, as seen from the Koran, it is always my business what others do, when it comes to killing.

Marrying a young child and having sex with a young child, I can even see as killing (killing of the child's innocence).

Because "Child marriage" is usually not about 2 children both 15 year old, when I see it in the context of the OP. Especially reading the article and the quote below and the picture in the article.

Just recently a law allowing child marriage (at Puberty) to be legalized in Somalia has come under world scrutiny. The Religion of peace has been very silent with only international political groups reminding the Somalian Government of previous international agreements to preventing child marriages. Somalia is not the only country which acquiesce in child marriages. Should there be a worldwide ban on such a practice?

Seriously? I dated a few different boys in high school. I didn't have sex with any of them or cohabitate with any of them. We were far too young to make the long-range decisions that marriage involves.

I hope so. In Canada I think if they dont have sex, they are not boyfriend girlfriend, they would be just friends or dating.
